The theme is “Role of Urban Local Bodies in Strengthening Constitutional Democracy and Nation Building”. Recently, Brazil hosted the BRICS Summit 2025 in Rio de Janeiro. Leaders of BRICS gathered for a two-day summit to discuss stronger cooperation. The summit was overshadowed by new tariff policies of United States President Donald Trump. BRICS leaders presented the group as a defender of multilateralism. The group expressed concerns about Western dominance in global affairs. BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. It brings together mainly developing nations to promote fair global cooperation. The summit aims to boost partnerships and address common challenges.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Controllers’ Conference 2025 in New Delhi on 7 July. The three-day event is hosted by the Defence Accounts Department (DAD). The conference includes eight high-level business sessions on budget reform, internal audits, collaborative research, pricing, and capacity building. The theme is ‘Transforming Financial Advice, Payment, Audit, and Accounting through Defence Finance and Economics.’

In July 2025, the 11th India Maize Summit was held in New Delhi, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The summit recognized progressive maize farmers for their innovation and contributions. It emphasized the vital role of agriculture in India’s economy and the need for sustainable farming for future generations. Maize is now India’s third-largest crop, but its productivity per hectare needs improvement. India does not use Genetically Modified (GM) seeds for maize, yet production has increased through research and better practices.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports inaugurated the Youth Spiritual Summit in Varanasi. The summit was held at the Rudraksh International Convention Centre. Theme of the summit was “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” (Drug-Free Youth for Developed India). The three-day summit focused on making youth drug-free to help build a Developed India. The summit ended with the Kashi Declaration, committing to a nationwide campaign for drug-free youth. A roadmap called Kashi Sankalp Patra was created to guide efforts toward youth de-addiction.

The Department of Hospital Administration at Army Hospital Research & Referral (AHRR), New Delhi, recently organised SHAPE 2025, the first-ever Armed Forces National Conference on Sustainable Hospital Architecture, Planning, Infrastructure and Equipment, on July 26–27, 2025. SHAPE 2025 aligned with the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, marking a step toward future-ready and resilient healthcare infrastructure. The conference stressed the shift from traditional hospital design to environmentally conscious, technology-enabled, and patient-friendly planning. It called sustainability a strategic need for health equity, disaster readiness, and national preparedness.
