A Declaration on Disaster Preparedness was recently adopted at the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. RIMES, established in 2009, is an intergovernmental body that supports member countries with early warning services, disaster risk reduction plans, and training support. It was formed after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami by countries in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific to build a strong regional warning system. RIMES has 22 member states and 26 collaborating states. Its regional early warning center is based at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

On May 15, 2025, the Inclusive India Summit was held at India International Centre, New Delhi, to mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). The event was conducted in hybrid mode and organized with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It was supported by the State Bank of India (SBI) Foundation, National Association for the Blind (NAB), Association of People with Disability (APD), and Mission Accessibility. The summit highlighted that accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities is a shared duty of all society. It focused on three key areas of life for Divyangjan: Life, Learning, and Livelihood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising North East Investors Summit in New Delhi, emphasizing zero tolerance towards terrorism and Maoist unrest. He described EAST as Empower, Act, Strengthen, and Transform, highlighting the North East’s diversity as India’s strength. The region, once called a Frontier, is now a front-runner in growth with strong tourism, bio-economy, bamboo, tea, petroleum, sports, and eco-tourism sectors. The Department of Fisheries (DoF), under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying (MoFAH&D), held the Fisheries Secretaries Conference 2025 and National Workshop on 23rd May 2025 in New Delhi. The meeting reviewed progress of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), and Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY). A pilot project was announced to use drones for transporting live fish in remote areas, with a 70-kg payload drone under development. Satellite technology will be used soon for improving fisher safety, mapping fish resources, and doing biometric verification. Plans were shared to upgrade fishing harbours and fish markets using smart and sustainable infrastructure.

The UN Ocean Conference 2025 is scheduled to take place in Nice, France, from June 9 to 13, 2025. It is co-hosted by France and Costa Rica. The seventh edition of the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) was held on June 6 and 7, 2025, in Nice, France. It was organised by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), which is headquartered in New Delhi. This was the first time the ICDRI conference was held in Europe. Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) is a global platform launched by India in 2019 to strengthen infrastructure against climate and disaster risks.

The Ministry of Ayush hosted the global summit ‘Yoga Connect’ on 14th June 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi as a key event before the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY). It was held in a hybrid format, with over 1,000 in-person participants and virtual attendees from top yoga institutions and wellness groups worldwide. The event was coordinated by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), India’s main yoga research body.

United Nations (UN) Member States have agreed on the outcome document called the Compromiso de Sevilla or Seville Commitment for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4). This document will be officially adopted at the upcoming summit in Sevilla, Spain. The Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) will be hosted by Spain in Seville, from June 30 to July 3, 2025. The Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) aims to build a stronger global framework to finance sustainable development. This is the fourth major conference following Monterrey (2002), Doha (2008), and Addis Ababa (2015).

Recently, the Indian Conservation Conference (ICCON) 2025 began on 25 June 2025 at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). ICCON was first launched in 2023 during the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger and the announcement of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA). ICCON 2025 features 17 themes, oral and speed talks, poster sessions, spotlight lectures, and 10 capacity-building workshops.
