Major private equity of the United States, KKR & Co. Inc. has recently acquired a 2.32 per cent stake in the digital unit of Reliance Industries, Jio platform for Rs 11,367 crore.
As per the announcement of the Reliance Industries, this is the fifth deal in the last four weeks for sale of minority stake in Jio platform. Earlier, it had raised Rs 67,194.75 crore from global technology investors including Facebook, Silver Lake Partners, Vista Equity Partners and General Atlantic.

The Andhra Pradesh Government has rolled out a revival package for the MSMEs of the state called ‘ReSTART’. The outlay of the scheme is ₹1,110-crore.
The main features of the package are the payment of all outstanding incentives to MSME units, waiver of 3 months fixed demand charges and working capital loans to MSMEs and better market access. The MSMEs Preferential Market Access Policy will ensure that 25 % of government purchases will be from Micro and small units. A task force for attracting investments has been formed under the Industries Minister.

The flagship initiative of the Minority Affairs Ministry, ‘Hunar Haat’ is expected to be launched once the nation-wide lockdown due to Covid-19 is lifted.
The initiative organises a skill fare and aims to generate employment for crafts-persons, will be launched in September with a theme of ‘Local to Global’. As per the Minority Affairs Ministry, more than five lakh Indian artisans, craftspeople, culinary experts were provided employment opportunities in the last five years by this fare.

Australian tennis legend Ashley Cooper, who won four Grand Slam singles titles in the 1950s, has recently passed away due to illness at the age of 83.
Ashley Cooper won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Grand slam in the year 1958, and achieved the rare feat of winning three Grand Slam championships in a calendar year. He won all four of his Grand Slam crowns by beating his fellow countrymen in the final. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1991.

Veteran Physician and former head of the Department of Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Dr Jitendra Nath Pande recently passed away at the age of 79.
He and his wife had earlier contracted corona virus and remained in home isolation. He has contributed a lot in the field of pulmonology. He studied in the AIIMS and retired as the HOD of Medicine in the same institute. Even after retirement, he continued to mentor the practicing doctors and surgeons at AIIMS.

The Indian Air Force is set to operationalize its squadron called the Number-18 – ‘Flying Bullets’ with a fleet of the LCA (Light Combat Aircraft) Tejas.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria will launch the squadron at the Sulur base near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This is the second Indian Air Force squadron to operate with the modern light fighter aircraft Tejas, which is a fourth-generation supersonic aircraft developed by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Giriraj Singh addressed a conference on the “PMMSY – A scheme to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India”.
The scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet on May 20. It aims to increase fish production to 220 lakh metric tons by 2024-25 from 137.58 lakh metric tons in 2018-19 at an average annual growth rate of 9%. There will be an estimated investment of Rs. 20,050 crores divided by the centre, states and beneficiaries.

Former Deputy Economy Minister of Brazil, Marcos Prado Troyjo has been selected as the new President of the Shanghai-based New Development Bank’s (NDB).
He is to replace the veteran Indian banker KV Kamath as the President of the multilateral financial institution set up by the BRICS countries. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended the special board of Governors of NDB meeting through video-conference. Another Indian Anil Kishora was selected as the Vice President of NDB during the conference.

India’s leading Information Technology firm announced that top Capgemini executive Thierry Delaporte has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD).
He is to replace the present head of Wipro Abidali Neemuchwala. Prior to this assignment, Thierry Delaporte had been associated with Capgemini and held several roles including the Chief Operating Officer and a member of its Group Executive Board. This is the first non-Indian appointment of chief, made by Indian firms.

The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers is celebrated on 29 May every year, to pay tribute to the contribution of the peacekeepers.
This year the theme of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, 2020 is “Women in Peacekeeping: A Key to Peace”. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. UN honours more than 3,900 UN peacekeepers who have lost their lives during their service, since 1948.
