Notes:
The Government of Karnataka established the Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University at Mysore in the year 2008-09. The university received the third position in ” Swachcha Campus” awards conferred by the Central Ministry of Higher Education Council, MHRD and AICTE under Non-Residential universities for the year 2019-2020. The university offers BA and MA programs in Music, Dance and Drama.

Notes:
The CM of Karnataka has announced an increase in the honorarium of Anganwadi Workers. Their compensation has been increased by Rs. 1500 for workers who served for 20 years. For those who served between 10 to 20 years, the honorarium increase of Rs. 1250 has been announced.

The Kalasa-Banduri Nala project is located on the Mahadayi River in Karnataka. This project is designed to divert water from the Kalasa and Banduri tributaries of the Mahadayi River to the Malaprabha River, which provides drinking water to the districts of Dharwad, Belgaum, and Gadag. The project has a history of disputes and objections, primarily from the Goa government, which expressed concerns about its potential impact on the state’s flora and fauna. Despite these objections, the project received clearance from the central government in 2002 but has faced ongoing challenges, particularly when the BJP government of Goa raised objections.

Siddeshwar Swami, renowned 20th century spiritual leader from Karnataka who established the Jnanayogashrama near Vijayapura, passed away at 81. He was a proponent of Advaita philosophy and authored several books.
Known as a “walking god,” he had devotees across Karnataka and Maharashtra. The Karnataka government declared a state funeral and a holiday in his honor. His final rites will be performed as per his recorded wishes. Prime Minister Modi and other leaders expressed grief. Swami was a scholar and author of spiritual books. His death was mourned by political leaders and followers. He was known for his service to society and spiritual teachings.

Trams are a popular mode of public transport in cities like Berlin, Jerusalem, Vienna, Paris, and Prague. The proposed tram project in Bengaluru aims to cover a 15-kilometre distance between Baiyyappanahalli and Central Silk Board, linking two metro stations and a railway terminal. The tram system is known for its efficiency in carrying a large number of passengers and could provide a solution to the city’s transportation challenges.

The AI and Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK) at IISc is working on a project to develop a dashboard that utilizes artificial intelligence to predict dengue outbreaks in Bengaluru. This initiative is in collaboration with the BBMP to better prepare for the mosquito-borne disease, especially ahead of the monsoon season and during periods when dengue cases typically spike. The dashboard aims to help in the efficient preparation and response to dengue outbreaks by predicting when and where they may occur.

The first underground transformer in India was inaugurated at Malleswaram 15th Cross, enhancing safety and reliability in power supply. This initiative, a collaboration between Bescom and BBMP, aims to reduce accidents, improve pedestrian safety, and protect the transformer from environmental factors, thereby increasing efficiency and quality of power distribution.
