e-Jagriti, the flagship digital consumer grievance redressal platform of the Department of Consumer Affairs, received the Silver Award at the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2026. It was launched in 2025 by Department of Consumer Affairs. The platform integrates four legacy systems: OCMS, e-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS, and CONFONET into a single AI-enabled, paperless platform. e-Jagriti enables consumers to file and track cases online and access consumer justice from anywhere in India and abroad. Since its launch, it has facilitated over 2.29 lakh consumer cases and achieved a disposal rate of over 90%.

The Andhra Pradesh Government recently launched the ‘Yogandhra-2026’ campaign to promote a mass yoga movement and preventive healthcare across the state. The 14-day initiative will run until 20 June and culminate with celebrations of the 12th International Yoga Day on 21 June. The campaign aims to involve one crore citizens in daily yoga activities. Around 25,000 registrations were recorded on the first day through the official portal. The theme of Yogandhra-2026 is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The centre recently highlighted that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement for girl child empowerment over the last 11 years. It was launched on 22 January 2015 to address the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and gender discrimination. The scheme is jointly implemented by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Education. The scheme focuses on the survival, protection, and empowerment of the girl child. The Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) improved from 918 in 2014–15 to 929 in 2024–25. Girls’ enrolment at the secondary education level increased from 75.51% to 80.2% during the same period.

Recently, the Centre facilitated a consensus among six states—Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan—for the implementation of the Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project. The project is proposed on the Tons River, the largest tributary of the Yamuna River, along the Uttarakhand–Himachal Pradesh border. It is a multipurpose project aimed at hydropower generation, irrigation, water supply, and improving environmental flows in the Yamuna. Under the agreement, the Central Government will bear 90% of the water component cost, while the remaining 10% will be shared by the six beneficiary states.

The Kiru Hydroelectric Power Project in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir, has entered its final phase, with over 83% of construction completed. It is a 624 MW run-of-the-river hydroelectric project being developed on the Chenab River. The project is located between the Kirthai II project (upstream) and the Kwar project (downstream). It includes a 135-metre concrete gravity dam and an underground powerhouse with four 156 MW Francis turbines.

The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) 2.0 portal and the Electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) Card were launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The initiatives aim to strengthen digital governance, simplify regulatory compliance, and improve citizen services. The FCRA 2.0 Portal digitises processes such as registration, renewal, annual return filing, and other services under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA). It also incorporates the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2026, and supports future features like an AI chatbot and mobile access. The e-OCI Card enables the entire OCI application process to be completed online, including application submission, document upload, and digital card download.

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched the SUMAN Roadmap 2030 during the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW). The roadmap aims to improve maternal and newborn healthcare and accelerate India’s progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. It is based on the RMNCHA+N framework and follows a life-cycle approach from pre-pregnancy to the postnatal period. RMNCAH+N stands for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Plus Nutrition. The roadmap includes the SUMAN Package for Pregnant Women, JANANI Portal, AI-enabled labour rooms, and Non-Pneumatic Anti-Shock Garments.

National Narcotics Helpline MANAS has recorded nearly 10 lakh (9.94 lakh) connection attempts since its launch. As of June 2026, it has received more than 2.65 lakh drug-related inputs and generated 16,200+ actionable intelligence inputs. It has connected more than 47,500 calls to professional counselling services. MANAS (Madak Padarth Nishedh Asoochna Kendra) was launched on 18 July 2024. It operates under the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Digital India Corporation (DIC). The platform enables confidential reporting of drug trafficking, peddling, illegal cultivation, and other narcotics-related offences.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) to prevent substance abuse through awareness, treatment, rehabilitation, capacity building, and social reintegration. The Ministry has expanded its network to 768 de-addiction and rehabilitation centres and operates the toll-free de-addiction helpline 14446. A 2019 national survey found that over 7 crore people in India were affected by substance use disorder, highlighting the need for coordinated action.

Notes:
Maharashtra Assembly passed the Women Farmers’ Empowerment Bill 2026 unanimously. It aims to recognise women farmers and ensure their access to welfare schemes. The legislation focuses on addressing the gap where benefits earlier largely reached male farmers. It is the first-of-its-kind law in India for women farmers. It also includes women engaged in agriculture and allied sectors like fisheries and livestock rearing.
