Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry facilitated export of 0.5 metric tonne of Geographical Indication tagged Salem Sago from Tamil Nadu to Canada. This was the first direct export by Geographical Indication Authorised User SAGOSERVE after receiving Geographical Indication tag in March 2023. Tamil Nadu is the largest producer of tapioca sago, also called sabudhana, and Salem is the hub of sago and starch industry.

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, launched NIGRANI App, Haj Wrist Band and Artificial Intelligence chatbots during Chintan Shivir at Nalanda University. The event was organised by Ministry of Minority Affairs to focus on infrastructure and socio economic empowerment of minorities. NIGRANI App was launched under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram to monitor infrastructure projects in minority concentrated areas. The app ensures transparency, real time monitoring and better implementation. Haj Wrist Band and Artificial Intelligence chatbots aim to improve Haj management and service delivery.

RailOne, the SuperApp of Indian Railways, crossed two crore downloads within eight months of its launch. The app surpassed five lakh ticket bookings per day in February 2026. It was developed by Centre for Railway Information Systems. It was launched by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on 1 July. RailOne integrates services like reserved and unreserved ticketing, platform tickets, train enquiries, PNR status, and other passenger utilities. RailTech Policy promotes innovation by engaging startups, innovators, industry, and institutions for Indian Railways modernization.

Researchers at Nagaland University studied the genetic diversity of Musa sikkimensis, a wild banana native to the Eastern Himalayas and Northeast India. Known as Darjeeling or Sikkim banana, it is a wild seeded species with traits for disease resistance, environmental stress tolerance, and climate adaptability, crucial for future breeding. Though not widely cultivated for fruit, it strengthens crop resilience, food security, and sustainable agriculture. Nagaland, part of the Indo Burma biodiversity hotspot, hosts diverse indigenous banana genotypes at risk due to deforestation and human activity.

Tamil Nadu leads India in deceased organ donation under Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu. The state recorded 57 deceased organ donors in the first two months of 2026, almost one per day. Tamil Nadu began a structured deceased organ donation system as early as 2008, ahead of many states. Though slowed during Covid years, the programme was later strengthened through coordination of policymakers, bureaucracy, technocrats, media and civil society. The model is now considered sustainable, based on scientific approach and strong ethical values.

Gujarat is establishing its first hi-tech nursery in Davas village, Deesa taluka, Banaskantha district to boost afforestation and conserve rare plant species. The project will cover 13 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 3.5 crore, implemented by the Gujarat Forest Department and Social Forestry Department, under Forest and Environment Minister Pravin Mali. The nursery aims to produce high-quality, disease-free, and robust saplings using advanced technologies, controlled environments, and scientific cultivation methods.

Telangana launched the “Stand with Her” campaign to establish the state as the safest for women. The campaign encourages youth to act as brand ambassadors for women’s safety. It emphasizes that true protection comes from social responsibility, not only from legislation. The initiative promotes a collective fight against gender discrimination.

Scientists studied the evolution of the Ladakh Magmatic Arc (LMA) in the North-West Himalaya. Ladakh Magmatic Arc (LMA) is a belt of igneous rocks in the Trans-Himalaya formed between Jurassic and Eocene period (about 201.3 to 33.9 million years ago). It is an extinct volcanic arc that developed over millions of years in three phases. First phase (160–110 million years ago) involved early island arc formation. Second phase (103–45 million years ago) saw intense magmatism due to plate convergence. Third phase (after 45 million years ago) involved post-collision magmatic activity. It formed when the Neo-Tethys Ocean existed and tectonic plates underwent subduction beneath the Earth’s surface.

The Punjab Government has launched the second phase of school education reforms, ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti 2.0’, to modernize and strengthen the state’s education system. The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the World Bank, aiming to make Punjab’s education system globally competitive. The initiative involves a total investment of ₹3,500 crore over the next six years, making it one of the largest education reform investments in the state’s history.

The Government of India has established the Nirbhaya Fund to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security of women. The fund is demand-driven, providing financial assistance to Ministries, Departments, States, and Union Territories for implementing safety-related projects. It supports key initiatives such as Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC), and the Safe City Project in major cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Mumbai. The fund also finances the establishment of Women Help Desks in police stations and Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs). It supports strengthening of DNA analysis, cyber forensic, and related facilities in State Forensic Science Laboratories.
