Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), with Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, inaugurated a two-day National Training-cum-Workshop on the NAKSHA Programme on 6–7 October 2025. The workshop gathers District Magistrates and Collectors nationwide to prepare for NAKSHA’s roll-out. NAKSHA Programme is a one-year pilot under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) for transparent, efficient, and accessible urban land governance. It uses geospatial mapping, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and Web-GIS tools to map urban land digitally.

Recently, the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare inaugurated the National Seeds Corporation’s (NSC) advanced seed processing plant at Pusa Complex, New Delhi. National Seeds Corporation (NSC) was established in 1963 for producing foundation and certified seeds. It functions under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. It is a Schedule ‘B’ Mini Ratna Category-I company fully owned by the Government of India. It ensures supply of quality seeds and supports schemes like National Mission on Oil Seed and Oil Palm (NMOOP), National Food Security Mission (NFSM), and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

Recently, researchers from Mangalore University and Yenepoya (Deemed-to-be University) discovered a distinct ancestral source in the Koraga tribe, possibly dating back to the Indus Valley Civilisation. The Koraga are an indigenous tribal community mainly found in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka and Kasaragod district of Kerala. They are classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). As per the 2011 Census, their population is 1,582 with 778 males and 804 females.

Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has conducted India’s first Plastic Waste Brand Audit–2025 to tackle plastic pollution. The audit was carried out in six cities — Mohali, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, and Bathinda. It aimed to identify companies producing the most plastic waste in Punjab. 14 major companies, including 4 multinational firms, were found responsible for about 59% of non-recyclable (hard-to-recycle) plastic waste. PPCB analysed 11,810 plastic packets from different brands to determine waste contribution.

Mumbai Metro 2B Mandale Depot has been inaugurated, making it Asia’s largest and first elevated metro depot. It is located in Mankhurd, connecting DN Nagar to Mandale. The depot is spread over 30.45 hectares and can accommodate 72 eight-coach trains simultaneously. It is a double-decker facility, with 36 trains on each of the two levels. It was built by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). It features advanced technology, eco-friendly amenities, and future-ready facilities. The depot will increase Metro 2B speed and improve daily travel, especially connecting east and west Mumbai.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) released a revised draft of Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) to rate crash safety of cars. Bharat NCAP began in October 2023 to test vehicles as per Automotive Industry Standard (AIS)-197 and give star ratings based on crashworthiness. New draft expands scope with new mandatory tests, revised scoring and focus on vulnerable road user protection for the first time. Bharat NCAP is voluntary and provides India-specific safety ratings; Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune issues ratings.

Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025 tabled by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma criminalises polygamy. Offence attracts up to 7 years jail and fine, 10 years if a person hides an existing marriage; punishment doubles for repeat offenders. Law applies statewide except Sixth Schedule areas; Scheduled Tribes under Article 342 are exempt due to customary laws allowing multiple marriages.

A major Nigerian drug cartel running a nationwide drug supply and money-laundering network was dismantled in a joint operation called Operation Eagle Force. The operation was carried out by Eagle Force Telangana, the Narcotics Control Bureau, the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Noida Police. Raids were conducted at 20 locations in Delhi, Noida, Gwalior and Visakhapatnam. The probe began from Cyberabad drug cases and traced orders to a Nigeria-based handler called “Nick”, supplying drugs to over 2,000 users and peddlers across India.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) dismantled a clandestine Mephedrone manufacturing facility in Wardha, Maharashtra during Operation Hinterland Brew. The operation led to the seizure of 128 kg of Mephedrone, valued at approximately ₹192 crore, along with 245 kg of precursor chemicals, raw materials, and a complete processing setup. With this operation, the DRI has dismantled five clandestine drug manufacturing facilities in 2025, highlighting its intelligence-driven vigilance, operational excellence, and commitment to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The operation reinforces efforts to protect citizens from narcotic and psychotropic substances and strengthen law enforcement against illicit drug networks.

The government informed Lok Sabha that 1,469 film titles, equal to 4.3 lakh minutes, have been digitized under the National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM). NFHM was launched by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to restore and preserve India’s film heritage. The National Film Archive of India in Pune implements the mission. The mission also conducts training workshops and uses a web-based IT system for smooth preservation processes.
