Recently, the ‘Yashoda AI: Your AI SAKHI’ event was held at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly to promote women’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy and digital awareness. It is an initiative of the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with Future Shift Labs (FSL). The mission is to empower women, especially from rural and semi-urban areas, with skills in AI, cybersecurity, and digital safety. The Yashoda AI Abhiyan aims to support a Viksit Bharat by making women active contributors in a tech-driven future. The program includes discussions on AI-driven crimes, digital privacy, and safety strategies. It involves students, educators, and women from the police force to promote community-based digital education and leadership.

The Prime Minister participated in the ‘Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan’ in Bhopal to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar (31 May 1725 – 13 August 1795) ruled the Malwa region as part of the Maratha Confederacy from 1767 to 1795. She first served as regent and then as the ruler of the Holkar dynasty with capitals at Maheshwar and Indore in central India. Her reign is known as the peak period of the Holkar dynasty, bringing peace, prosperity, and cultural growth.

The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, will conduct the second phase of capacity-building under the NAKSHA programme starting 2nd June 2025. The NAtional geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban Habitations (NAKSHA) programme is a city survey initiative under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). It is led by the Department of Land Resources (DoLR) under the Ministry of Rural Development. The programme prepares detailed maps of towns and cities to improve land records.

Recently, the Karnataka government notified the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), Karnataka Amendment Act, 2024, to reduce tobacco use across the state. The amendment received presidential assent on May 23 and was published in the state gazette on May 30. The legal age to buy tobacco products has been raised from 18 to 21 years. Sale of tobacco within 100 metres of educational institutions and sale of loose cigarettes is now banned. The amendment strengthens public health protections, especially for youth, under Article 47 of the Constitution of India.

Telangana Formation Day, also called Telangana Statehood Day, is celebrated every year on June 2. It was formed by dividing the northwestern part of Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The day is marked by cultural programs, official ceremonies, and public celebrations across Telangana.

Recently, the Government of India launched the Ayush Nivesh Saarthi portal during the Ayush Stakeholder and Industry Interaction Meet at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi. It is a dedicated digital platform for investors developed by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in collaboration with Invest India. It aims to boost India’s traditional wellness systems as a strong economic sector. The portal combines policy details, incentive schemes, ready-to-invest projects, and real-time assistance in one interface.

Recently, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the Waste Picker Enumeration App under the National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) scheme to empower waste pickers. This digital platform will identify and support waste pickers by giving them formal identity, health insurance, skill training, and livelihood access. NAMASTE scheme now aims to enumerate 2.5 lakh waste pickers and integrate them into India’s formal sanitation and circular economy systems.

Delhi is set to host India’s first E-Waste Recycling Eco Park in Holambi Kalan, located in North Delhi. The E-Waste Eco Park is a dedicated facility for scientific recycling, dismantling, and recovery of electronic waste in an environmentally safe manner. It aims to be a model project for sustainable e-waste management in the country. The project was announced by Delhi’s Environment Minister.

Recently, the Andhra Pradesh government banned the entry of Totapuri mangoes from other states into Chittoor district, leading to a dispute with Karnataka. Totapuri mangoes are mainly grown in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This mango is known for its long shape and parrot beak-like tip, which gives it the name “Totapuri.” It is also called Ginimoothi, Sandersha, or Banglora and is native to South India.

Bihar has become the top state in India for using the ‘Scan and Share’ feature under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), with a 92% online Out-Patient Department (OPD) registration rate. As per the National Health Authority (NHA), Bihar alone accounts for 2.94 crore of the 11.38 crore total OPD registrations under ABDM since 2021. ABDM is a national initiative to build a digital health ecosystem that connects patients, doctors, and hospitals using interoperable systems.
