Notes:
The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) has been launched by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) under the Ministry of Railways. It has successfully completed trial works in four key railway sections. The system aims to protect wildlife, especially elephants, while maintaining operational efficiency in forested areas. The IDS runs parallel to railway tracks at a distance of 10 metres. It uses advanced optical fibre sensing technology to detect elephant movements near tracks. The system sends real-time alerts to train drivers and control rooms for preventive action. Elephant-generated vibrations are detected by sensor cables and transmitted to the control room.

Notes:
National Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) was launched in 2021 under the Government of India’s “Sweet Revolution”. It is a Central Sector Scheme focusing on scientific beekeeping, quality honey, and beehive product development. It is implemented by the National Bee Board (NBB). It aims at income generation, infrastructure development, and quality control of honey. It develops traceability systems using blockchain and IT tools.

On 5th November 2025, security forces launched Operation Chhatru, a major anti-terror operation in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). The operation is being jointly carried out by the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps and the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Kishtwar, located in the Chenab Valley between South Kashmir and the Pir Panjal ranges, holds strategic importance for counter-insurgency efforts. The region had remained peaceful in recent years, but reports indicate renewed militant infiltration attempts, prompting the operation. The mission aims to neutralize terrorist networks and restore security stability in the area.

The Registrar-General and Census Commissioner of India launched two mobile apps for the trial phase of India’s first digital Census 2027. The pre-test for House Listing and Housing Operations (HLO) will be held from November 10–30, 2025 in select areas. Enumerators, including block and revenue officials and government teachers, will use two apps — Digital Layout Map (DLM) and Census 2027–Houselist — available on Google Play Store. These apps are compatible with Android and Apple devices and accessible only to authorised personnel.

Recently, the Union Agriculture Minister announced that the Plant Variety and Farmers’ Rights Protection Authority Act will be amended during the 21st Foundation Day of the Authority. The Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA) was established on 11 November 2005 under the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act, 2001. It works under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. The Authority grants intellectual property rights to plant breeders for developing new plant varieties. It recognises and rewards farmers who conserve traditional varieties and biodiversity. It protects farmers’ rights to save, use, sow, resow, exchange, and sell farm-saved seeds.

The Maharashtra Agriculture Department has launched a new logo and slogan, marking its first visual identity revamp in 38 years. The new emblem was unveiled in Mumbai by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne. The new slogan is “Sashwat Sheti, Samruddha Shetkari”, meaning “Sustainable Farming, Prosperous Farmer”. It was selected through a state-wide competition that received over 1,700 entries.

Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has conducted India’s first Plastic Waste Brand Audit–2025 to tackle plastic pollution. The audit was carried out in six cities — Mohali, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, and Bathinda. It aimed to identify companies producing the most plastic waste in Punjab. 14 major companies, including 4 multinational firms, were found responsible for about 59% of non-recyclable (hard-to-recycle) plastic waste. PPCB analysed 11,810 plastic packets from different brands to determine waste contribution.

Recently, the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) reviewed the progress of the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) 2.0 to push rural technology solutions. RuTAG is an initiative of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) launched in 2004 to bring Science and Technology support to rural areas. It focuses on demand-driven interventions to fill technology gaps at the grassroots level. It upgrades local technologies and provides training and demonstrations through innovative projects. It connects stakeholders like Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), community bodies, and start-ups to identify technology needs.

The e-Jagriti Platform has recently crossed two lakh users since its launch on 1 January 2025. e-Jagriti is a flagship initiative of the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. It strengthens India’s consumer dispute redressal system through full digital access. It offers multilingual support and accessibility tools for inclusivity. It provides AI-powered smart search for complaints, cases and judgments. It allows NRIs and citizens to file and monitor cases from anywhere with secure access. It ensures simple, fast and cost-effective consumer dispute resolution online.

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry recently launched the Trade Intelligence and Analytics (TIA) Portal in New Delhi to strengthen data-driven trade decisions. It is a one-stop platform developed by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, that integrates multiple global and national trade databases. The portal offers 270+ interactive visualisations across 28 dashboards with real-time insights on India’s trade, global markets, commodities and sectors. The portal improves accessibility and usability of all trade data in one place.
