Recently, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) launched the ‘Gyanodaya’ Centre for Pedagogical Innovation and Publishing. This initiative is part of IIMK’s Vision 2047 and supports the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP). The main aim is to reform management education through innovative teaching methods. The centre will create and publish academic materials like case studies and books. It plans to blend Indian traditional knowledge with global educational practices. Gyanodaya will run its own manuscript platform named ‘Pandulipi’. It will promote collaboration among learners, authors, and educational institutions.

In Khetar Kanyal village, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, no woman contested for the village head (pradhan), highlighting a deeper issue within the Raji tribe community. The Raji tribe is a small indigenous group from the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and parts of western Nepal. It is among the smallest tribes of India and is classified as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). Also known as Banrawats, Ben-Manus, and cave dwellers. They traditionally lived in forests and caves and speak Bat-Kha, a Tibeto-Burman language.

As of 14 July 2025, 15.45 lakh households have benefited under Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY). The scheme was launched in February 2024 by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). It aims to provide rooftop solar panels to 1 crore households by March 2027. It offers 40–60% subsidy for residential solar installations. Gujarat leads with 5.23 lakh installations (33% of total), followed by Maharashtra with 3.79 lakh. States like Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Northeast states have less than 1,000 installations.

Recently, Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh was approved to host India’s first Hindi-medium MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) college. The academic session will begin from 2027–28 with 50 MBBS seats initially. The decision was approved by the Executive Council of Madhya Pradesh Medical University. Hindi-translated textbooks already prepared will be used for teaching. Clinical training will be conducted at the existing government hospital. The college plans to expand further to offer MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) courses in Hindi. This initiative aims to remove language barriers in medical education.

Recently, the Central government documented cultural heritage of over 4.7 lakh villages under ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ (MGMD) initiative. Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar is a pan-India initiative of Ministry of Culture under National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM). It was launched on 27th July 2023 as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The aim is to digitally map 6.5 lakh villages across all States and Union Territories. The project promotes rural culture, economic growth, social harmony, and artistic development. It is implemented by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

NITI Aayog recently launched the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI). India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) is a first-of-its-kind tool to track and rank States and Union Territories (UTs) on electric mobility progress. It evaluates all States and UTs out of 100 across 16 indicators under 3 core themes. Transport Electrification Progress measures electric vehicle (EV) adoption on the demand side. Charging Infrastructure Readiness tracks EV charging network development. EV Research and Innovation Status evaluates supply-side research and development.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Government of Telangana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up India’s first FIFA Talent Academy for girls. The academy will be located at the Gachibowli Stadium Complex in Hyderabad, Telangana. The MoU was signed during the Telangana Sports Conclave. AIFF will manage operations, technical framework, talent scouting, and training curriculum in coordination with Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) will handle infrastructure, logistics, education, finances, and welfare.

Punjab became the first state in India to empanel sign language interpreters, translators, and special educators under the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, 2015. The aim is to ensure accessible and sensitive justice for children with hearing and speech impairments. Experts will be deployed district-wise and compensated as per legal provisions. They will assist in routine and urgent cases involving specially-abled children. Punjab already broadcasts Punjab Vidhan Sabha proceedings in sign language. Initiative aligns with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012

Government informed Lok Sabha that over 85% of Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) are in Tier 2 and 3 cities. These STPIs have created 2.98 lakh jobs in non-metro cities. STPI was established in 1991 with headquarters in New Delhi under Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It promotes Information Technology (IT) industry, innovation, research & development (R&D), start-ups, and product/intellectual property (IP) creation in emerging tech like Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Its vision aligns with National Policy on Software Products (NPSP), 2019.

Satnavri, a village of 1,800 people in rural Nagpur, Maharashtra, was chosen as India’s first ‘smart intelligent village’ under a state-backed pilot project approved by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The project was launched last month to integrate technologies like drone-assisted farming, smart irrigation, mobile banking, digitised schools, and advanced surveillance. It was conceptualised by the Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises (VOICE) with domestic technology associations. Satnavri was selected for its small size, strong connectivity, and readiness for upgrades.
