A new trend arose in the Swadeshi phase of the struggle for India’s independence, the rise of revolutionary terrorism. The Anushilan Samiti of Calcutta was formed by Barindra Kumar Ghosh, Jatindranath Banerjee and Pramotha Mitter in 1902. The Anushilan Samiti of Dacca was founded by Pulin Das in 1902.

Dhaka Anushilan Samiti was a branch of the Anushilan Samiti founded in the city of Dhaka in November 1905.

Dhaka Anushilan Samiti was initially a group of eighty under the leadership of Pulin Behari Das, it “spread like wildfire” throughout the province of East Bengal. More than 500 branches were opened, linked by a “close and detailed organization” to Pulin’s headquarters at Dhaka.

Branches of Dhaka Anushilan emerged in the towns of Jessore, Khulna, Faridpur, Rajnagar, Rajendrapur, Mohanpur, Barvali, Bakarganj, and other places. Estimates of Dhaka Anushilan Samiti’s reach show a membership of between 15,000 and 20,000 members.

The branch of Anushilan Samiti was established in Bihar by Sachindranath Sanyal. It was established in 1913. Bankimchandra Mitra of BN College was given responsibilities to lead the organisation.
Anushilan Samiti was an Indian organisation in the first quarter of the 20th century that supported revolutionary violence as the means for ending British rule in India. It was established in 1902. Satish Chandra Basu was the founder of the Anushilan Samiti. The main aim of Anushilan Samiti was Independence of India.

By 1900, Aurobindo Ghosh had started to think to launch a secret society for the growth of revolutionary cult in India. He sent Jatin Banerjee, a young Bengali soldier belonging to the army of Baroda to Bengal in 1900 and two year later (1902) Barinder Kumar Ghosh, his brother with the mission of setting up a revolutionary organization there. It was with their efforts that the first proper revolutionary secret society known as Anushilan Samiti (Calcutta) was founded on 24 March 1902 by Pramath Nath Mitra (P. Mitra). The name of Anushilan Samiti was taken from the Bankim Chandra’s one of writing of that name.

Notes:
The Anushilan Samiti of Dhaka was established in 1905, led by Pulin Behari Das. While Pramathanath Mitra and Sachindra Prasad Bose were associated with the Kolkata Anushilan Samiti, Dhaka branch was founded and headed exclusively by Pulin Behari Das. Hemchandra Das was not related to the Dhaka Samiti.

• The Chittagong armoury raid was carried out on 18 April 1930. Kalpana joined the “Indian Republican Army, Chattagram branch”, the armed resistance group led by Surya Sen in May 1931.
• Abhinav Bharat Society (Young India Society) was a secret society founded by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar in 1904.
• Anushilan Samiti was a Bengali Indian organisation that existed in the first quarter. It soon became an organ for the radical views of Aurobindo and Anushilan leaders, and lent the name “Jugantar party” to the Calcutta group.
• After Bhagat Jawarmal died, Balak Singh carried is legacy. However, it was not the real starting of the Kuka Movement as we know today. The real founder was Baba Ram Singh, who was born in 1815 as a son of a poor carpenter, in small village of Bhaini, around 7 kilometers away from Ludhiana.

• Abhinav Bharat Society was a secret society founded by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar in 1904.
• Anushilan Samiti was a Bengali Indian organisation that existed in the first quarter of the twentieth century, and propounded revolutionary violence as the means for ending British rule in India. It was founded by Satish Chandra Basu. By 1902, Calcutta had three societies working under the umbrella of Anushilan Samity. One was founded by Calcutta student Satish Chandra Basu with the patronage of Calcutta barrister Pramatha Mitra, another was led by Bengali woman Sarala Devi and the third was founded by Jatindranath Bannerjee and Aurobindo Ghosh.
• The Ghadar Party, initially the Pacific Coast Hindustan Association, was formed in 1913 in the United States but before a decision to create head quarter at yugantar ashram in San Francisco was taken at a meeting in Canada under the leadership of Har Dayal, Sant Baba Wasakha Singh Dadehar.
• Swaraj Party was formed by Motilal Nehru and Chittaranjandas and was named as Congress-Khilafat Swarajaya Partyin 1922.It also claimed to be an integral part of the Congress and professes its adherence to Non-Violence Non-Cooperation Movement and decided to boycott the legislatures.
