President Appoints New Governors and Lieutenant Governors

President Droupadi Murmu has announced a major reshuffle in the gubernatorial and lieutenant governor positions across several Indian States and Union Territories. The appointments involve transfers, new postings and acceptance of a resignation, reflecting changes in the administrative leadership of multiple regions.

Key Governor Appointments

Shiv Pratap Shukla, who was serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana. Meanwhile, the current Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, will take charge as the Governor of Maharashtra. Former Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed as the Governor of Nagaland, while Lieutenant General (Retired) Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar.

Changes in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu

R.N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal. The President has also accepted the resignation of West Bengal Governor Dr C.V. Ananda Bose. In the interim arrangement, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will discharge the functions of the Governor of Tamil Nadu until a new appointment is made.

New Lieutenant Governors for Union Territories

Kavinder Gupta, currently serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, has been appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, will now serve as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Former Indian diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
