Mucormycosis

Mucormycosis is a rare black fungal infection caused by mucormyete molds, which are present in the air, leaves, compost, soil and rotting wood. This fungus affects central nervous system, eyes, sinuses, lungs etc. However, not everyone who is exposed is infected. It mostly affects those having weak immune systems and is deadly when not treated. There is a rise in cases of this fungal infection among COVID-19 patients in India.
