‘Medara community’ included in K’taka ST list
The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2012 seeks to amend the Constitution to include the Medara community in the list of Scheduled Tribes in Karnataka.
It received Parliament’s approval with the Rajya Sabha adopting it. The Lok Sabha had passed it earlier. In 2002, the Medara community was omitted in the list.
