Jaffna peninsula

Jaffna Peninsula is a part of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It stretches into the Palk Strait. Recently, India lodged protests with the Sri Lankan government over the award of a tender for 3 renewable energy projects on the islands off the Jaffna peninsula. These projects are to be developed on Delft, Nainativu and Analativu Islands and is to be funded by the Asian Development Bank. The Delft island, which is the largest of the 3 islands, is located very close to Rameswaram of Tamil Nadu.
