Recently (August 2009) Corporation Bank has received an approval from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) to offer income tax returns filing facility through ATM network.

This is ‘first-of-its- kind facility’ in India. Corporation Bank has 1000-plus strong ATM network spread across the country.

The service for filing of Income Tax (I-T) returns will be for Corporation Bank debit card holders through Bank’s network of 1,000 plus ATMs in the country. The facility has commenced from August 18. This would make income tax payment easier for the individual tax payer. It will also reduce dependence of the retail assesses on CAs and income tax consultants

This way the Bank wishes to cater to the retail assesses, who account for around 65 per cent of all income tax payers.
