IIT Hyderabad Launches ANUGYAN Nuclear Training Programme

IIT Hyderabad and Crimson Energy Experts Pvt. Ltd. launched ANUGYAN, the Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme, on 3 August 2026. The three-month residential programme is India’s first industry-academia course for engineers and industry professionals in the civil nuclear energy sector.

Programme Structure

ANUGYAN is conducted at the IIT Hyderabad campus as a fully residential course. The programme combines classroom instruction with practical exposure from nuclear industry professionals. Participants who complete the course receive a joint certification from IIT Hyderabad and Crimson Energy Experts.

Curriculum and Technical Areas

The curriculum covers reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, radiation shielding, Small Modular Reactors, nuclear safety, quality assurance, engineering design, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board compliance, and simulator-based training. These subjects form part of nuclear engineering and nuclear power plant operations.

Institutional Linkages and Sector Context

The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by IIT Hyderabad, Dassault Systèmes, and Crimson Energy Experts during Bharat Innovate 2026 in Nice, France. The MoU was linked to the creation of the Centre of Design Excellence in Nuclear Engineering, known as CODENE. The programme is intended for research institutions, public sector enterprises, EPC companies, manufacturing industries, and nuclear technology organisations. India’s nuclear power capacity target is about 100 GWe by 2047, compared with an installed capacity of around 8.8 GWe.
