Haldia Seaport Designated as Immigration Post

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs designated Haldia seaport in West Bengal as an immigration post on 22 June 2026. The notification made Haldia the 41st seaport immigration post along India’s coastline.

Haldia Dock Complex

The Haldia Dock Complex began international operations in 1977. It was built in 1968 to reduce the load on Kolkata Port, which is one of the major ports on the eastern coast of India. Haldia is located in Purba Medinipur district in West Bengal and serves as a riverine port connected to the Hooghly estuary.

Seaport Immigration Posts on the Coastline

India’s coastline includes seaports that are notified for immigration clearance, customs checks, and international passenger movement. Haldia joined the list after three seaports in Gujarat, namely Dahej, Sikka, and Tuna Tekra, were designated as immigration posts on 29 May 2026.
