Government extends Justice Shah Commission tenure by 1 year
The government extended Justice M B Shah Commission term, by one year till July 16, 2013. The extension for one year has been sought since the Commission is collecting and compiling information on mining from 7 important mineral producing states, which is quite huge.
When and why the commission was constituted?
Justice M B Shah Commission was set up in November 2010 to investigate into the cases of illegal mining. It was supposed to handover its report by May 18, 2012. The commission will identify cases of illegal mining and also to identify and rectify management, regulatory and monitoring system failures in thwarting illegal mining
