NPPA

The NPPA is a governmental agency which falls under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. It was formed on August 29, 1997. The regulatory agency’s main role is to enforce the DPCO (Drugs Price Control Order). Its other roles include conducting studies on prices of drugs, monitor drug shortages, maintain records of export and import of drugs, study Indian pharmaceutical market and the market shares of different companies. It also advises the government with respect to drug pricing and policy with respect to the same.
