Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap, former Lok Sabha Secretary-General and constitutional expert, died on 4 June 2026 at the age of 97. He died at his residence in Sainik Farm, New Delhi, at around 10 a.m. due to cardio-pulmonary arrest after age-related ailments.
Early Life and Public Service
Dr. Subhash Kashyap was born on 10 May 1929 in Chadpur, Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. He participated in India’s Independence movement as a teenager.
Parliamentary Career
Dr. Kashyap served as Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha from 1983 to 1990. He was associated with the Parliament of India for more than 37 years.

Dr. Kashyap authored more than 100 books on constitutional law, parliamentary procedures, and governance. His writings were used by students, researchers, and legislators in India.
