The 9th India International Science Festival (IISF) for 2023 is scheduled to take place in Faridabad, Haryana, from January 17th to January 20th, 2024.
This edition’s theme is centered around “Science and Technology Public Outreach in Amrit Kaal.” IISF 2023 will have a total of 17 themes to showcase scientific achievements offering benefits to participants and the general public.

N Sankaraiah, a prominent freedom fighter and a founding member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), as well as one of the most influential leaders in the Left movement passed away at the age of 102.
He first joined the Communist Party of India (CPI) in the 1940s, became a key organizer in Tamil Nadu, serving as the party’s Madurai district secretary in 1944.

On November 14, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a temporary spending bill designed to prevent a government shutdown during the holiday season.
The bill will proceed to the Senate, and upon its passage, it will be sent to President Joe Biden for his approval. Government funding is set to expire on November 17.

According to the 19th annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin, greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere reached unprecedented levels in 2022, and there is no indication of this upward trend coming to a halt.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a branch of the United Nations, has reported that in the previous year, levels of the three primary greenhouse gases responsible for climate warming namely carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, all reached record-breaking levels.

The “Rwanda plan,” initiated in April 2022 by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, aimed to discourage asylum seekers from undertaking the perilous 20-mile (32 km) journey across the Channel from Europe to England’s southern shores in small boats or inflatable dinghies.
However, the UK Supreme Court ruled that the government’s scheme to send asylum seekers to Rwanda was illegal, dealing a significant setback to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s efforts to deter arrivals via small boats.
