As per the ‘World Population Prospects 2022’ report, that the world’s population will reach 8 billion on November 15, 2022.
The U.N. also said global population growth fell below 1 per cent in 2020 for the first time since 1950. The world’s population could grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 and a peak of around 10.4 billion during the 2080s. India, with a current population of 1.412 billion, will surpass China, with a current population of 1.426 billion, next year.

The USD 20 billion agreement will provide funding to help the country increase its use of renewable energy and reduce its reliance on coal.

The ‘Global Shield’ insurance initiative was officially launched by the G7 and the V20 group of 58 climate vulnerable nations at the COP27 climate summit in Egypt.
Germany will provide USD 172 million to the initiative to help low-income and vulnerable countries to rebound in the event of climate calamities. Countries like Canada, Ireland and Denmark have so far pledged a further €40 million to the initiative. The US President also announced to support the initiative.

As per the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI), the current frontrunner in climate mitigation continues to be Denmark.
Denmark is the only country with a ‘high’ national and even ‘very high’ rated international climate policy.  No country is ranked first to third while Denmark is ranked fourth followed by Sweden. India is ranked eighth.

Indian Navy conducted ‘Prasthan’, structured exercise to evaluate organisational effectiveness in protecting offshore assets off Mumbai on an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) platform.
‘Prasthan’ is conducted twice a year under the aegis of Western Naval Command. The Indian Navy is the lead agency and is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the oil production platforms off the coasts of India.
