Notes:
The new species of butterfly, now named the Chocolate-bordered Flitter, has been discovered at Dzongu in north Sikkim.
It carries the scientific name Zographetus dzonguensis, after the place where it was discovered. The closest relatives of the butterfly are in south-eastern China, near Hong Kong. This was discovered through a photograph uploaded on to the ‘Butterflies of India’ website National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), is an intelligence and enforcement agency of the Government of India on anti-smuggling matters.
The Union Finance Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman was addressing the 64th ‘Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Foundation Day’. DRI released a report on the occasion, which said that gold smuggling shifted from the Middle East to Myanmar during 2020-21.

Russia won the Davis Cup title in 2021 by defeating Croatia, after a brilliant performance from Daniil Medvedev. The 25-year-old player defeated Marin Cilic in the second singles match, to make the country win its first Davis Cup title since 2006.
It was also the fifth consecutive straight-set victory in the Davis Cup for the No. 2 Medvedev. Russia’s first Davis Cup title was in 2002. Croatia also was seeking its third title after title wins in 2005 and 2018.

Several tribal outfits in Tripura have joined hands to push their demand for a separate state for indigenous communities in the region.
The demand has grown to carve out a separate state of ‘Greater Tipraland’ for the indigenous communities in Tripura under Article 2 and 3 of the Constitution. Among the 19 notified Scheduled Tribes in Tripura, Tripuris (also known was Tipra and Tiprasas) are the largest.

President Ram Nath Kovind was speaking at the centenary celebration of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament.
He said that the PAC ensures “administrative accountability of the executive towards the legislature”. The President released a souvenir depicting the 100 glorious years of the PAC’s journey and 67 articles, including 15 from the Commonwealth countries.
