The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023 was passed recently by the Lok Sabha. It aims to boost ease of doing business and living in India.
It aims to redefine regulations in the country by decriminalizing minor offenses under 42 Acts, thereby reducing compliance. The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry presented the proposed legislation in Parliament in December of the previous year.

The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was introduced in the Lok Sabha, to amend IIM Act of 2017.
The amendment declares the 20 IIMs across the country as ‘institutions of national importance’.
The bill introduced in Lok Sabha by the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, proposes to appoint the President of India as the ‘Visitor’ to all the IIMs.

Micron reaffirmed its commitment to establish India’s first semiconductor plant in Gujarat, creating 5,000 direct jobs and addressing demand from domestic and international markets.
The project entails a total investment of USD 2.75 billion. The first Made in India’ chip should be ready by December 2024.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government has decided to enable listed and unlisted domestic companies to directly list their equity shares on the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at Ahmedabad.
The decision will facilitate access to global capital and result in a better valuation of the Indian companies. The Finance Minister also launched Corporate Debt Market Development Fund (CDMDF) and AMC Repo Clearing Ltd (ARCL).

Notes:
The single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars is called as ‘Formula E’. Jake Dennis became the first British driver to win the all-electric Formula E world championship when he finished second for Avalanche Andretti in the London E-prix.
Formula E’s first season was in 2014-15 and Dennis is the eighth driver to take the title with France’s Jean-Eric Vergne the only double champion.
