Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Amendments to Investment Policy and More

The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has approved several significant amendments and initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, enhancing administrative efficiency, and preserving cultural diversity in the state.

1. Amendment of Industrial and Investment Policy

  • The cabinet approved amendments to the Arunachal Pradesh State Industrial and Investment Policy 2020.
  • The amendments aim to make Arunachal Pradesh an attractive investment destination with modern infrastructure, technology skill development, and a favorable ecosystem for employment and regional development.
  • Special incentives, including amended power subsidies, will be offered to large-scale industries to attract investors and boost the state’s economy.
  • Tax incentives and a single-window clearance system for mandatory licenses are also part of the policy.

Solid Waste Management Byelaws

  • The cabinet approved three essential byelaws for solid waste management in the state:
    • Arunachal Pradesh Solid Waste (Management & Handling) Byelaws 2023
    • Plastic Waste Management Byelaws 2023
    • Construction & Demolition Waste Management Byelaws 2023

Amendment of Real Estate Rules

The cabinet approved the amendment of “The Arunachal Pradesh Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Rules 2020” to facilitate the establishment of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (REAT) under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.

Water Supply System Policy

An Operation and Maintenance Policy for rural and urban water supply systems was approved to ensure sustainable management of water supply systems across the state.

Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF)

  • The cabinet approved the constitution of the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) for three Tiger Reserves in Arunachal Pradesh—Namdapha, Pakke, and Kamlang.
  • This specialized force aims to protect tigers and their habitats, prevent wildlife smuggling, safeguard forest assets, and assist in scientific forest management.

Support for Tribal Dialects

To promote and preserve the dialects and languages of various tribes in Arunachal Pradesh, the cabinet approved a monthly lump-sum honorarium of Rs 1,000 for all Third Language Teachers who have developed scripts for their respective tribes. This initiative aims to encourage the teaching of third language subjects from an elementary level.
