APSEZ Wins 10-Year Argentina LNG Contract
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) secured a 10-year marine services contract on 8 June 2026 for Argentina’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project. The contract has an estimated investment commitment of USD 70 million and is APSEZ’s entry into the South American market.
Project and Contract Structure
The award was secured by Adani Harbour International FZCO, APSEZ’s subsidiary, through a consortium with Argentina’s Meridian Group. The contract followed a global competitive tender process conducted by Southern Energy S.A. (SESA), the developer of the LNG project. The contract will be executed through Meridian Transportes Maritimos S.A., a joint venture in which Adani Harbour International FZCO holds a 51% stake.
Marine Services and Fleet Details
The consortium will provide marine services for the Southern Energy FLNG project. These services include tugboat operations for LNG carriers, offshore logistics, supply support, and crew transfer services. The operations will use four high-specification tugboats, an anchor handling tug supply vessel, and a crew boat.
Argentina LNG Project Facts
The project is located in the San Matías Gulf in Argentina’s Río Negro Province. Commercial operations are expected to begin in September 2027. In its initial phase, the Southern Energy FLNG project is projected to produce 2.45 million tonnes of LNG annually, which is equivalent to about 28 cargo shipments per year.
