AP to Build 177 Houses with 3D Concrete Printing

Andhra Pradesh launched India’s first pilot housing project using 3D concrete printing technology on 4 October 2026. The project covers 177 houses in Burripalem and Obulnayudupalem villages in Tenali Mandal of Guntur district under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0.

3D Concrete Printing Technology

3D concrete printing is an additive construction method that builds structures layer by layer using a computer-controlled printer and a cement-based material. Officials stated that a house can be completed in about 10 days using this method, compared with longer timelines in conventional masonry construction.

Project Cost and Funding

The project has an estimated outlay of ₹13.93 crore excluding taxes. The Union Ministry of Rural Development is contributing ₹9.44 crore, while the Andhra Pradesh government is providing ₹4.49 crore.

Implementation Framework

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was planned among the Union Ministry of Rural Development, CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, and the Andhra Pradesh government. CSIR-CBRI is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and works on building materials, structural engineering, and construction technologies.
