 The Saudi Arabian blogger and author of the website Free Saudi Liberals, Mr. Raif Badawi won 2015 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought for courageously expressing his ideas and  openly raising his doubts on the rules of his country which he deemed overtly restrictive. Currently, he is serving a 10-year sentence and 1,000 lashes for insulting Islam. The Sakharov  Prize for Freedom of Thought has been awarded by the European Parliament since 1988 to individuals or organisations for their contribution to the fight for human rights and democracy.
