What is the meaning of Blank Verse in literature?

This term is used in literature. It is an unrhymed poetry. It is a dominant verse form of English dramatic and narrative poetry. Since the mid-16th century, blank verse was adapted by Italian Renaissance writers. From Italy, blank verse was brought into literature by poet Henry Howard. Rabindranath Tagore was a great exponent of this form and his poem ‘Upagupta’ is an example.
