Celebrating Film Heritage in Odisha
The workshop opened in Bhubaneswar with the presence of acclaimed actress Waheeda Rehman. She praised the ongoing efforts to document, restore and safeguard archival films, noting the vital role of preservation in ensuring that future generations can access historic cinematic work. The Champion of Film Heritage Award went to Surya Deo for his extensive documentation of Odia cinema and preservation of rare artefacts. Another award was conferred upon Sanjoy Patnaik for his research into the stories of Odia film pioneers. A Certificate of Appreciation was also presented to Rashmiranjan Mohapatra for creatively interpreting classic Odia films through traditional Pattachitra art.
