Uttar Pradesh Pushes Deep-Tech Capital Vision

Uttar Pradesh has set a deep-tech capital vision centred on artificial intelligence, quantum computing, drone technology, green hydrogen, cybersecurity, and medical technology. The state government linked this plan with the theme of self-reliance and with the slogan “Innovate in UP, Scale for the World”.

Deep-Tech and Emerging Technologies

Deep-tech refers to technologies based on advanced scientific research, engineering, and long development cycles. In Uttar Pradesh, the identified sectors include artificial intelligence, quantum computing, drone technology, green hydrogen, cybersecurity, and medical technology. Deep-tech ecosystems usually combine universities, research institutions, startups, and industry partners. Uttar Pradesh has placed research institutions and industrial deployment within the same policy framework for technology scaling.

Institutional and Industrial Framework

IIT Kanpur is a major institution in the state’s technology ecosystem. Its Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology is developing med-tech solutions, and operations are expected to begin in November 2026. The proposed UP Deep-Tech Hub in Noida is planned as a platform for startups, research institutions, and industry. The model described for the hub places research at IIT Kanpur and expansion and deployment from Noida. The Cyber Security Technology Translation Research Park is part of the state’s cybersecurity initiative. Such research parks are used in India for technology transfer, prototyping, and industry collaboration.

Green Hydrogen, Ayurveda, and Youth Training

The state has planned a Centre of Excellence in green hydrogen. The work areas include production, storage, testing, safety standards, and industrial applications. Officials also discussed an institutional centre for internationally recognised clinical validation in Ayurveda. Clinical validation is a scientific process used to test medicines through structured studies and evidence-based methods. The government has launched the Robotics and AI Mission and the Tech Yuva-Samarth Yuva scheme. These initiatives are linked with training in robotics, artificial intelligence, and other advanced technologies for youth.
