RSETIs Strengthen Rural Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
The Ministry of Rural Development has highlighted the growing importance of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in empowering rural youth. These institutions are playing a crucial role in promoting skill development, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods across India.
About Rural Self Employment Training Institutes
RSETIs are dedicated institutions aimed at providing skill-based training to unemployed rural youth. They focus on enhancing employability and encouraging self-employment through structured training programmes. These institutes offer free residential training, making them accessible to economically weaker sections.
Unique partnership model
RSETIs operate through a collaborative framework between banks and the government. Each district has one RSETI, typically managed by the lead bank of that district. This model ensures effective implementation, financial support and integration with banking services for credit access.
Training and course structure
The institutes provide short-duration, practical and residential training programmes for individuals aged between 18 and 50 years. A total of 73 courses aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) are offered across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, services and entrepreneurship development.
