World Heart Day is annually observed on September 29 to raise public awareness about cardiovascular diseases and their prevention. The World Heart Federation asks people around the world to ‘Use Heart to Beat CVD’.

The first ever “International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste” is observed on 29th September 2020 by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
The day is observed with the message “Stop food loss and waste – for the people, for the planet”. The day aims to create awareness about food loss and calls for global action to maximize the use of food.

International Translation Day is an international day celebrated annually on 30 September across the world.
The day is celebrated the feast of St. Jerome, the Bible translator who is considered the patron saint of translators. The celebrations have been led by International Federation of Translators, since it was set up in the year 1953.

General Atlantic has proposed to invest Rs 3,675 crore in the Retail arm of Reliance.
With this investment, the company would get 0.84% stake in Reliance Retail Ventures. The fresh investment would value Reliance Retail Ventures at Rs.4.285 lakh crore. This is the second investment of General Atlantic in Reliance after its investment of Rs.6,598.38 crore in Jio.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020-2030 as the “Decade of Healthy Ageing”. International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 every year.
United Nations designated this day to focus on the well-being and special needs of the elderly people. The UN theme of the International Day of Older Persons 2020 is “Pandemics: Do They Change How We Address Age and Ageing?”.

The 19th round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Myanmar was recently held through virtual mode.
India committed to provide debt service relief under the G-20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative, for the period May 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. Both the countries agreed to enhance their mutual cooperation. A Joint Trade Committee Ministerial Meeting is also to be held on October 20.

The Union Minister of Jal Sakthi Ministry Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has launched a 100-day campaign to provide potable piped water supply in Schools and Anganwadi Centres, under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The 100-day programme was envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, while releasing ‘Margdarshika’ for Gram Panchayats.

On Mahatma Gandhi’s 151st birth anniversary, the world’s highest architecture Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai, United Arab Emirates was illuminated with Mahatma Gandhi’s image along with his message.
His famous quote ‘Peace between countries must rest on the solid foundation of love between individuals’ was displayed on the iconic tower.
