As per the recent cautionary message from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a new virus named ‘Cat Que’ emerged in China.
This virus comes from Culex mosquitoes and pigs in China and Vietnam. As per ICMR, India also provides breeding climate to this species of Culex mosquitoes. This is published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research (IJMR).

Google India has recently announced the launch of its nationwide campaign named ‘Make Small Strong’.
It aims to help support small businesses and enhance demand through customer support. It encourages people to buy locally and promote their favourite retailers by posting reviews. This new programme is based on feedback from Small and Medium Businesses.

Mahatma Gandhi founded the organisation named ‘Harijan Sevak Sangh’ in 1932, to work for the upliftment of the Depressed class people.
The Sangh was established to fight untouchability in the country. While establishing the Sangh, Gandhi also started a new weekly paper named ‘the Harijan’. The Sangh is headquartered at New Delhi.

Major Tech company Google has planned to pay USD 1 billion to publishers globally for their news over the next three years.
The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai said the new product called Google News Showcase will be launched first in Germany. It will be unveiled in Belgium, India, the Netherlands and other countries. Google will pay publishers to create high-quality content for the news feature.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the appointment of Committee of Directors (CoD) to run Dhanlaxmi Bank.
RBI is said to have approved a three-member interim committee of directors, headed by G Subramonia Iyer, to run the bank. Earlier, the shareholders voted out the bank’s MD and CEO Sunil Gurbaxani.

Madhabi Puri Buch is the first woman Whole-time member (WTM) of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
She is also the first from the private sector to be appointed a SEBI Board member. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has recently approved the extension of her appointment as WTM for one year beginning October 4, 2020.

The Union Minister of Jal Sakthi Ministry Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has launched a 100-day campaign to provide potable piped water supply in Schools and Anganwadi Centres, under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The 100-day programme was envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, while releasing ‘Margdarshika’ for Gram Panchayats.

Digital payments firm Paytm has recently launched a mini-app store, with an aim to support Indian developers.
This initiative is seen as a direct challenge to Google in the App store system. The payment app was earlier temporarily removed from Google’s Play Store for violating developer guidelines. Paytm provides listing and distribution of these mini-apps within its application.

India and South Africa has formally submitted a request to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and sought a waiver on agreements related to prevent Covid-19.
The countries claimed that there were many reports about Intellectual property rights (IPR) hindering timely provisioning of affordable medical products to COVID-19 patients. Many Developing countries face difficulties while using TRIPS Agreement.

The United Nations designated the first Monday of October of every year as World Habitat Day, to sensitise on the basic right to adequate shelter.
This year, the theme of the World Habitat Day 2020 is ‘Housing For All — A Better Urban Future’. World Habitat Day was first celebrated in 1986 with the theme ‘Shelter is My Right’ and was hosted by Nairobi.
