Notes:
The Union Government has recently appointed economists Ashima Goyal, Jayanth R Varma and Shashanka Bhide as members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by the prime minister, approved the names. The new members will replace Chetan Ghate, Pami Dua and Ravindra Dholakia. The RBI had earlier postponed the last meeting of the MPC.

Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) functions under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Divyangjan under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been between the ISLRTC and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to make educational materials such as NCERT Textbooks and Teachers Handbook accessible for hearing impaired children in their preferred format of sign language.

Notes:
The Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal launched the Kisan Rath Mobile App, to facilitate timely sale of agricultural products.
The app is designed and technically maintained by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and aims to establish a robust buyer-seller network. The app will be released by the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART).

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has recently launched ‘MSME Prerana’, an online business mentoring programme for MSMEs.
The programme is to implemented by Indian Bank and is aimed at empowering entrepreneurs through skill development and capacity building workshops. The mentoring programmes would be available in all local languages.

The United States has decided to open its Foreign Commercial Service Office in Dhaka, Bangladesh to boost its economic ties with the country.
The US also agreed to ask the American companies to invest in various sectors like energy, IT, pharmaceutics and agriculture in Bangladesh. The dignitaries also discussed issues relating to cooperation in the field of energy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched a campaign on Jan Andolan for COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour.
The campaign has been launched considering the festivals, winter season and the opening up of the economy. The Prime Minister asked the people to wear a mask, wash hands and follow social distancing by maintaining ‘Do Gaz Ki Doori.’

Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani has recently launched the first-ever brand and logo for Indian Cotton.
It was launched on the second World Cotton Day, which is celebrated across the world on October 7. India’s premium Cotton would be known as ‘Kasturi Cotton’ in the World Cotton trade. The Minister also released a new logo for the Indian Cotton.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has virtually inaugurated the state’s largest oxygen plant in Modinagar, Ghaziabad.
The plant is commissioned by the leading manufacturers of industrial and medical gases, INOX Air Products (INOX). The project outlay of the plant is Rs 135 crore and it has a capacity of 150 tonnes liquid medical oxygen per day.

Goa has become the first Har Ghar Jal State in the country which means the state has provided tap water connection to every rural household.
As per the recent statement by the Jal Shakti Ministry, the state has provided tap water connection to over two lakh 30 thousand rural households. North Goa and South Goa are completely saturated with piped water supply through tap connections.

The Delhi government has exempted road tax on its battery-operated vehicles under its new Electric Vehicle Policy.
The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi of the National Capital Territory of Delhi exempted the road tax with immediate effect. Delhi has been at the forefront in promoting Electric vehicles through various incentives and developing the supporting infrastructure.
