Notes:
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced detailed guidelines for product labelling in mutual funds.
Earlier, there were five categories to measure the level of risks in mutual fund schemes. Now SEBI, which is the regulator, has introduced one more category known as ‘very high risk’. These new guidelines shall be in force with effect from January 1, 2021.

Veteran Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officer of 1990 batch Pradeep Kumar Rawat has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Kingdom of Netherlands.
As per the recent statement of the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Pradeep Kumar, who is presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Indonesia, is expected to take up the new role shortly.

Veteran political leader who fought for Dalit rights and the founder of Lok Janshakti Party, Ram Vilas Paswan passed away at the age of 74.
He entered the Guinness World Record for winning a parliamentary election with the highest margin. He won with a margin of 4.24 lakh votes from his Hajipur constituency in Bihar in 1977. After the leader’s demise, who was serving ans the Consumer Affairs Minister, Union Minister Piyush Goyal was assigned the additional charge.

Notes:
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will provide funds to banks totalling Rs 1 trillion under on-tap targeted long-term repo operations (TLTRO).
The on-tap funds will be deployed by the banks by providing leans to various sectors including real estate, and microfinance. The rate of interest for the funds will be fixed at a floating rate linked to the policy rate and will be available till March 31, 2021

World Post Day is celebrated every year on 9 October across the world. It marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the city of Bern, Switzerland.
The World Post Day was declared by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. For the first time, the ceremony is held virtually. The Universal Postal Union released a message on the title ‘More than mail’.

The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) and the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) released a report titled ‘Animal Discoveries 2019 and Plant Discoveries 2019’.
As per the report, 544 new species including 364 animal species and 180 plant species were discovered in the year 2019. Some of the important species include Cnemaspisanandani (a rock dwelling gecko) and Ginger Amomum nagamiense (a wild ginger variety discovered in Nagaland).

The ‘International Day of the Girl’ is celebrated across the world on October 11 every year. It is also called as the International Day of the Girl Child.
Various organisations including WHO, UNICEF are engaged in the celebration. This year, the theme of the day is “My voice, our equal future”. The day highlights on gender-based violence, diseases like AIDS and also skill development of girls.

Notes:
Sittwe is located at the mouth of the river Kaladan at Rakhine state of Myanmar. The port is being financed by India as a part of the Kaladan Multimodal Transport project.
The project was jointly initiated by India and Myanmar for cargo transportation from Eastern India to the North Eastern India through Myanmar. Recently, India and Myanmar have agreed to operate the port by early 2021.

The issue price of the 7th series of sovereign gold bond (SGB) scheme has been fixed at Rs,5051 per gram.
The SGB will be available for subscription from Oct12 to Oct 16, 2020. These Gold bonds are issued by the Reserve Bank of India on behalf of the Government of India.

Technology giant Microsoft announced that it has partnered with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to train students and educators in new-age technologies.
Microsoft’s learning resource centre ‘Microsoft Learn’ has been integrated with the ELIS platform, the e-learning portal of AICTE to make available over 1,500-course modules of Microsoft to the students and educators at free of cost.
