Notes:
India has launched ‘Flash Flood Guidance’ services for itself and other South Asian countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, to provide impact-based forecasting.
The Flash Flood Guidance system has been designed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), to provide forecasting of flash floods which occur at short duration. The services are provided at watershed and city level.

Notes:
The Labour and Employment Secretary of India Apurva Chandra has been elected as the Chairperson of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for the period October 2020 – June 2021.
He is a 1988 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of Maharashtra Cadre. With this, India has assumed the leadership of ILO after a period of 35 years.

Notes:
The Central Government has extended the due dates for filing income tax returns and tax audit reports for FY 20 to various classes of taxpayers.
As per the announcement, individuals who are not required to conduct a tax audit report can file their Income Tax for FY 20 up to 31st December 2020. The original due date of 31 July 2020 was earlier extended to 30 November 2020.

Former Member of Parliament and legendary Gujarati singer-musician Mahesh Kanodia has recently passed away at the age of 83.
Mahesh Kanodia was an MP from Patan Lok Sabha constituency. He is the brother of legendary Gujarati film star Naresh Kanodia and the they are known as the Mahesh-Naresh duo in Gujarati film industry.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has recently launched a campaign named ‘RuPay Festive Carnival’.
Under the campaign, the institution provides benefits and discounts up to 65 per cent on purchase of various branded items using RuPay card. This move is aimed at encouraging contactless and cashless payments.

The Third India USA “two plus two” Ministerial Dialogue is held at the national capital New Delhi.
India is being represented by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The USA delegation is led by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defence Mark Esper.

Notes:
A team of researchers from India and Canada have discovered that Dairy production existed in Indus Valley civilization in 2500 BCE. This is the earliest known evidence of dairy production.
The results were based on chemical analysis of residue of pottery found at the archaeological site of Kotada Bhadli, a rural area in Gujarat, which showed presence of Dairy lipids.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) constituent labs- CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi and CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad carried out a study regarding Indian genomes.
As per the study published in the scientific journal, Nucleic Acid Research, 32.23% of the global variants were unique and found only in the samples sequenced from India.

The air-connectivity between Bangladesh and India resumed under the air-bubble arrangement between the two countries, after nearly eight months.
The Bangladeshi airlines will be operating flights from Dhaka to Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai while the Indian carriers will have flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai to Dhaka.

Notes:
The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has launched a mobile application named ‘Green Delhi’. Using the application, the residents of Delhi can bring pollution causing activities to the government’s notice.
The application has been designed to identify the location of pollution source and the complaint will be automatically forwarded to the concerned department for time bound action.
