The Coronavirus vaccine being developed by Bharat Biotech named Covaxin has been recently cleared for third phase of clinical trials.
The vaccine is being developed in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The approval for phase 3 trials has been given by Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).

Notes:
The United Nations Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was opened for signature at United Nations headquarters on 20th September 2017. Once 50 countries have ratified or acceded to it, it will enter into force.
The United Nations announced recently that 50 countries have ratified the treaty and would come into force within 90 days, by January 2021.

The Supreme Court has recently suspended the one-man committee of retired Supreme Court judge Justice Madan B Lokur to oversee steps to tackle stubble burning.
The Central Government said to the apex court that it would create a permanent body through legislation to deal with air pollution and the stubble burning problem in Delhi and NCR states.

Former Member of Parliament and legendary Gujarati singer-musician Mahesh Kanodia has recently passed away at the age of 83.
Mahesh Kanodia was an MP from Patan Lok Sabha constituency. He is the brother of legendary Gujarati film star Naresh Kanodia and the they are known as the Mahesh-Naresh duo in Gujarati film industry.

The World Day for Audio-visual Heritage is celebrated on 27 October every year, across the world. This year, the theme is ‘Your Window to the World’.
The 33rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference proclaimed 27 October as World Day for Audio-visual Heritage, in commemoration of the adoption of the Recommendation for the Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Images in 1980.

India-based Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE) has been named as one among the winners of the 2020 UN Global Climate Action Award.
GHE is an Indian organisation that uses tourism and technology to help remote communities get access to solar energy. This was announced in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) website.

Asan Conservation Reserve has become the first Ramsar site in the state of Uttarakhand, as per the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
This site which was made the ‘Wetland of International Importance’, is located on the banks of Yamuna river near Dehradun district. With this, the number of Ramsar sites in India goes up to 38.

Indian Army has recently developed a simple messaging application named the Secure Application for Internet (SAI).
The application supports end to end secure voice, text and video calling services for Android platform over the internet. It is similar to messaging applications including WhatsApp and Telegram. It is expected to facilitate secure messaging within the service.

The Delhi Cabinet has approved over Rs 40 crore to provide medical insurance to lawyers, who are residents of the national capital.
Rs 5 lakh medical insurance and Rs 10 lakh life insurance are provided under the Chief Minister Advocates Welfare Scheme. A 13-member committee was set up headed by Rakesh Kumar Khanna, to recommend ways for utilisation of the fund for welfare of advocates.

The World’s first scientoon book named “Bye Bye Corona” has been published by Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous agency under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
The book has been written by Dr Pradeep Srivastava who is the former Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow. The main purpose of this book is to make people aware of COVID-19 in an engaging way
