The Berlin-based Anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International released its recent study entitled ‘Exporting Corruption 2020: Assessing Enforcement of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention’.
As per the study, India is one among the biggest global exporters with the worst track records along with China, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Hong Kong, Canada and Mexico. It also revealed that India lacks a mechanism to crack down on bribery of foreign officials by its exporters.

Veteran Kuchipudi dancer Shobha Naidu from Andhra Pradesh has recently passed away at the age of 64, in Hyderabad.
The renowned dancer was awarded the civilian honour of Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2001 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 1991. She also served as the Principal for Kuchipudi Art Academy, Hyderabad.

Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano located in Tanzania. It is also the tallest mountain of Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world.
Recently, over 500 volunteers have been trying to put out a fire on the Mount Kilimanjaro. Thought the fire spread could be controlled, the area known as ‘Kifunika Hill’ was still burning, as per the news. The fire is said to have consumed 28 square kilometers of vegetation.

The National Security Guard celebrated its 33rd Raising Day recently. The commandos demonstrated their Ninja style counter terrorism techniques during the celebrations at NSG campus in Manesar.
The function was attended by the Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. The NSG was formed in 1984 after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi specially to combat terrorism.

A webinar between India and Kazakhstan was held recently on the theme – “Make In India For The World, India – Kazakhstan Defence Cooperation: Webinar and Expo”.
The webinar was organized by Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence through FICCI. This is a part of the webinar series organized by the Ministry with friendly nations with the aim to boost defence exports.

A naval version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired from INS Chennai.
The missile was fired from the indigenously built stealth destroyer of the Indian Navy in the Arabian Sea. It hit the target accurately after performing extremely complex operations. The missile can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or from land platforms.

The Lenders to Jet Airways have approved the resolution plan submitted by a consortium led by Kalrock Capital and entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan.
The resolution professional (RP) for Jet Airways Ashish Chhawchharia is expected to move National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for its approval. The airline was grounded in 2019 due to financial crisis under the ownership of founder Naresh Goyal.

Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has entered into a pact with Delhi based pharmaceutical firm Mankind Pharma. The pact would enable Mankind Pharma to market and distribute the Russian vaccine Sputnik V vaccine in India.
Earlier, Russian Direct Investment Fund entered into a pact with Dr Reddy’s for conducting clinical trials of Sputnik V vaccine and distribute them in India.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has stated that it is restructuring the “Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions” (FIST).
The FIST programme will now be re-launched as FIST 2.0. It aims align the requirements of startups with the government’s ‘self-reliant India’ campaign.

Notes:
The ‘National Deworming Day’ was launched in the year 2015 in India. As per the recent statement of the Health Ministry, 14 states have shown a reduction in worm infections present among children.
Nine states showed a substantial decline in worm infections. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), the day seeks to eliminate worm infestation among children and adolescents living in areas with a high soil-transmitted helminthiases (STH) burden.
