The Indian Army dedicated a chair of excellence in the memory of late chief of defence staff (CDS) at the United Service Institution of India (USI).
Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane announced the ‘General Bipin Rawat Memorial Chair of Excellence’.  USI is the country’s oldest think tank founded in 1870.

Hyatt Foundation, which sponsors the Pritzker Prize, announced the winner of the 2022 Prize, to Diébédo Francis Kéré.
It is the world’s most important award for architecture. Born in Burkina Faso, Francis Kéré is the first African architect to be awarded a Pritzker Prize. His studio is based in Berlin, Germany. He is known for sustainable architecture including Gando Primary School.

Jayati Ghosh has been appointed by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to the Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism.
UN Chief Guterres announced the establishment of the new high-level to be co-chaired by former Liberian president and Nobel laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and former Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has inaugurated AquaMAP Water Management and Policy Centre and also launched its website
AquaMAP is a national water centre and IIT Madras is collaborating with IIT Dharwad in the project. The Centre aims at providing solutions for water problems by designing and evolving smart and optimal water management practices.

Governor of Haryana Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal inaugurated the 35th Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
The Mela was first organized in 1987 and this is the 35th Crafts Mela. It helps thousands of craftsperson from across India to showcase their arts. Jammu & Kashmir is the ‘Theme State’ of the Surajkund Crafts Mela 2022.

Monacan Racing Driver Charles Leclerc won the Bahrain Grand Prix 2022, playing for Ferrari. He surpassed the reigning world champion Max Verstappen.
His team-mate Carlos Sainz came second while Mercedes’ champion Lewis Hamilton finished third in the tournament.

Heavy rainfall and strong winds hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as a deep depression intensified over the north Andaman Sea, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The deep depression intensified into a cyclonic storm named ‘Cyclone Asani’ and made landfall near the port city of Thandwe in Myanmar.

Indian Tennis player Lakshya Sen won second place in the All England Open Badminton Championship 2022.
World No.1 Viktor Axelsen defeated Lakshya Sen in the men’s singles final match held in Birmingham. Women’s singles title was clinched by Japan’s Yamaguchi Akane. Men’s doubles title was won by Indonesia. Women’s doubles title and Mixed doubles title are won by Japan.

Notes:
The third edition of the joint training exercise between India’s and Uzbekistan’s armies named ‘EX-DUSTLIK’ began in Uzbekistan’s Yangiarik.
India is represented by its Grenadiers Regiment while the Uzbek Army contingent is represented by troops of the North Western Military District. The last edition of DUSTLIK was held in Uttarakhand’s Ranikhet. The joint exercise will focus on Counter Terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain.

Bihar celebrated its 110th foundation day on March 22. The state of Bihar was carved out from Bengal’s presidency on the same day in 1912.
The theme of this year’s Bihar Diwas is ‘Jal Jivan Haryali’. A three-day function will be organized on this occasion, with over 18 departments of the state and different organizations would participate. A drone show will also be organized in which 500 drones will fly together.
