Bihar has become the first state in the country to introduce the concept of a dynamic map for villages.
The dynamic maps will get updated every time land ownership changes hands. This new move is aimed at reducing legal disputes. The State Assembly recently passed the Bihar Land Mutation Amendment Bill, 2021 that made the mutation of maps mandatory.

International Day of Forests on March 21 is observed every year with the aim to increase awareness about the role of forests in sustaining lives on this planet.
The theme for 2022 is ‘Forests and Sustainable Production and Consumption’. As per the United Nations, forests are home to about 80 per cent of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, with more than 60,000 tree species.

World Water Day is observed on March 22 to raise awareness about the importance of water and sensitise people to conserve water.
The focus of World Water Day is to aid the achievement of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal’ (SDG) 6, which is to ensure safe water and sanitation for all by 2030. The theme of World Water Day this year is “Groundwater, making the invisible visible”.

Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and FICCI are jointly organizing WINGS INDIA 2022 – Asia’s largest event on Civil Aviation.
It focuses on new business acquisition, investments, policy formation and regional connectivity. Hyderabad, also called as the hub of Aviation, is the host of the event. As part of the country’ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the theme of the event is “India@75: New Horizon for Aviation Industry”.

Suraksha Kavach 2, a Joint Security Exercise was organised between Indian Army and Maharashtra Police at Lullanagar, Pune.
The aim of the exercise was to harmonize the procedures undertaken by Army and Police to counter any likely terrorist actions in Pune. It is participated by Counter Terrorism Task Force (CTTF) of Indian Army, Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra Police, Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), Dog Squads and Bomb Disposal Teams of both agencies.

Notes:
Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has cleared the procurement of 14 items for over 380 crore rupees from the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) startups or MSMEs.
These items will be procured by the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The DAC also approved the new simplified procedure for procurement from the iDEX startups and MSMEs.

The World Meteorological Day is observed to commemorate the day on which ‘World Meteorological Organisation (WMO)’ was founded. WMO now has 193 member countries and territories.
WMO has been observing World Meteorological Day since 1961 on March 23. The theme of this year’s World Meteorological Day is ‘Early Warning and Early Action.

The Abel Prize for the year 2022 has been awarded to Professor Dennis Parnell Sullivan. It is awarded annually to outstanding mathematicians.
The award was established by the Norwegian Government in 2002, and is managed by The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. Professor Sullivan was awarded the prize “For his contributions to topology, in particular its algebraic, geometric and dynamical aspects.”

The Supreme Court recently ruled that State Legislatures have the power to tax lotteries organised by other states.
A lottery conducted by Government of India, states or authorised by a state or conducted by private entities is an activity falling within the nomenclature of ‘betting and gambling’.

The joint winner of last year’s Nobel Peace Prize from Russia, Dmitry Muratov, announced that he will donate his medal to help Ukrainian refugees.
Dmitry Muratov, editor of Russia’s leading opposition newspaper Novaya Gazeta, was awarded the 2021 prize, along with Maria Ressa of the Philippines for their efforts ‘to safeguard freedom of expression’.
