A massive Saharan dust cloud turned the skies red-orange across Spain. After the dust filled parts of Spain, a warning of extremely bad air quality was issued for Madrid.
Spain’s weather service described the dust storm as “extraordinary and very intense”. It also predicted that the dust storm will continue through on the day to come.

The policy, titled “India and the Arctic: building a partnership for sustainable development” was released by Union Earth Sciences Minister Jitendra Singh.
The Arctic policy seeks to deepen the country’s partnership with the resource-rich Arctic region. India is one of the 13 countries holding the observer status in the Arctic Council. It also seeks to study the linkages between polar regions and the Himalayas.

Notes:
The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) is a statutory body working under Ministry of Home Affairs. It was created through the Land Ports Authority of India Act, 2010. LPAI is responsible for creating, maintaining and managing border infrastructure in India.
The 10th anniversary of the Land Port Authority (LPA) was recently organised. India’s 15,000 km-long land borders with Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan.

Keoladeo National Park is located in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. Recently, an experiment with Africa’s ‘Boma Capturing Technique’ was undertaken in the park.
The technique is used for capturing and translocating spotted deer, which will improve the prey base in Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve, situated 450 km away.

Major military exercise named ‘Cold Response 2022’ with 30,000 NATO troops and partner countries have commenced in Norway.
The exercise was planned long before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It aims to test how Norway would manage Allied reinforcements on its soil, in line with NATO‘s charter, which requires member states to come to the aid of another member state under attack.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICR) has commissioned ICGS ‘Saksham’, the fifth Coast Guard Ship in the series of 105 M-Class offshore patrol vessels.
ICGS Saksham is the fifth and last Offshore Patrol Vessel designed and developed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) for Coast Guard. The vessel uses totally indigenous steering gear and gearbox, which was being imported earlier.

Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance (or YYA Treaty) was signed by Finland with the USSR in 1948.
‘Finlandization’ of Ukraine was proposed by France’s President Emmanuel Macron as one of the feasible models. ‘Finlandization’ refers to the policy of strict neutrality between Russia and the West that Finland followed during the period of Cold War.

Hyderabad FC lifted their maiden Indian Super League title after defeating Kerala Blasters in the final match held in Goa.
Hyderabad FC skipper Joao Victor, Khassa Camara and Halicharan Narzary scored for their team. Kerala Blasters ended second for the third time in a final clash.

Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and FICCI are jointly organizing WINGS INDIA 2022 – Asia’s largest event on Civil Aviation.
It focuses on new business acquisition, investments, policy formation and regional connectivity. Hyderabad, also called as the hub of Aviation, is the host of the event. As part of the country’ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the theme of the event is “India@75: New Horizon for Aviation Industry”.

Notes:
The new Common University Education Test (CUET), to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is compulsory for all the Central Universities.
The exam will be a computer-based, multiple-choice test.  The University Grants Commission (UGC) also asks all state, deemed-to-be, and private universities to use the test scores for admissions to undergraduate programmes across the country.
