Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed the ‘Virtual Assets Bill’ legalising cryptocurrencies. The bill was adopted by the parliament last month.
The bill will allow foreign and Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchanges to operate legally. It will also allow banks to open accounts for crypto companies. Ukraine has received millions of dollars, worth of cryptocurrency donations to support the country’s conflict against Russia.

Jayati Ghosh has been appointed by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to the Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism.
UN Chief Guterres announced the establishment of the new high-level to be co-chaired by former Liberian president and Nobel laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and former Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.

Governor of Haryana Bandaru Dattatraya and Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal inaugurated the 35th Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
The Mela was first organized in 1987 and this is the 35th Crafts Mela. It helps thousands of craftsperson from across India to showcase their arts. Jammu & Kashmir is the ‘Theme State’ of the Surajkund Crafts Mela 2022.

The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) implements phase II of the Grid Connected Rooftop Solar (RTS) Programme.
The government has installed 1,252 megawatt (MW) RTS capacity in the residential sector, as of March 2022. The government has installed renewable energy projects of 152.90 gigawatt (GW) capacity as of March 2022.

Bhagat Singh, Shiva Ram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged to death on March 23, 1931, in the Lahore Conspiracy case.
To commemorate their death anniversary, March 23 is observed as ‘Shaheed Diwas’ across the country. It is also called as ‘Martyrs’ Day’. The day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated, January 30, is also marked as Shaheed Diwas.

According to the World Air Quality Report, prepared by Swiss organisation IQAir, New Delhi continues to be the world’s most polluted capital city for the fourth consecutive year.
As per the report, no country managed to meet the WHO’s air quality standard in 2021. The index listed 35 Indian cities with the worst air quality tag for 2021 with Bhiwadi (Rajasthan) topping the list followed by Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh).

Kuwait recently became the hottest place on earth, with the temperature at 53.2 degrees Celsius (127.7 degrees Fahrenheit).
As per a recent study, 67 percent of heat-related deaths in the capital was due to climate change. The Country continues to burn oil for electricity and ranks among the top global carbon emitters per capita, according to the World Resources Institute.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio presented the state budget for FY 22-23. He announced a Rs 65 crore worth micro-finance scheme to help MSME entrepreneurs and farmers.
The Chief Minister’s Microfinance Initiative will improve credit flow to hard-working farmers and young entrepreneurs. Other new schemes are Target Champion Scheme (TACS), and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme.

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has recently launched the Sujalam 2.0 campaign for Greywater management.
Greywater is wastewater from non-toilet plumbing systems. The theme for this year’s campaign is Groundwater: making the invisible visible. Under the Campaign, government will mobilize Communities, Panchayats, Schools to undertake greywater management.

Notes:
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is chaired by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Recently, the Council approved the procurement of Rs 8,357 crore worth of military platforms and hardware.
The procurement proposals were accorded “Acceptance of Necessity” at the meeting. The proposals include procurement of night sight (Image Intensifier), light vehicles GS 4X4, Air defence fire control radar (light) and GSAT-7B satellite.
