US President Joe Biden has signed an executive order on government oversight of crypto-currency that insists on the Federal Reserve to explore whether the central bank should create its own digital currency.
The order requires the government to assess the risks and benefits of creating a Central Bank Digital Currency.

India accidentally fired a Missile into Pakistan, due to technical malfunction. A high-level court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
As per Pakistan, the missile flew more than 100 km inside their airspace, at an altitude of 40,000 feet, before it landed. As there was no warhead on the missile, it did not detonate.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has recently conducted its annual marketing event ‘Grameena Habba’ in Malleswaram, Bengaluru.
It is a platform for Rural artisans, weavers, farmers and tribes across India ato sell agricultural, handicraft and handloom products in Bengaluru.

Veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami has created history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the Women’s World Cup.
She achieved this feat during the match West Indies Women in the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2022. She has now clinched 40 wickets in 31 matches in the Women’s World Cup and has surpassed Australia’s Lyn Fullston (39).

The Mumbai Climate Action Plan (MCAP) released recently has laid down a 30-year roadmap for the city to tackle the challenges of climate change.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) prepared the plan with technical support from the World Resources Institute (WRI), India and the C40 Cities network. The action plan has set short, medium and long-term climate goals aimed towards zero emission of greenhouse gas or a net-zero target for 2050.

A huge white stone from the Iron Age, known as ‘Menhir’, was spotted on the roadside at Ellarigudem, a hamlet of Mahaboobabad district, Telangana.
It was noticed during his survey of archaeological and heritage remains under ‘Preserve Heritage for Posterity’ programme. As per archaeologists, the menhir belongs to the Iron Age (3,500 years old) erected in memory of a dead person.

The ‘FIFA World Cup 2022’ is scheduled to take part in Qatar. The 32-nation tournament will commence at the Al Bayt Stadium from November 2022.
The World Cup is being held in Asia for the second time since 2022, when it was jointly-hosted by South Korea and Japan. Fifteen countries, including defending champion France and former champions Brazil, Germany and Spain have sealed their spot while the qualification rounds for the remaining 17 spots start from March 17.

The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has proposed the rejuvenation of 13 major rivers across the country.
It includes Himalayan, Peninsular Rivers and one inland river – Luni. The rivers identified will be rejuvenated through ‘forestry interventions’ with an outlay of Rs 19,343 crore. The Report was prepared by ICFRE, Dehradun and will be funded by National Afforestation and Eco-development Board.

Article 25 provides the fundamental right of ‘Freedom of conscience and free profession, practice and propagation of religion’ to all persons.
The High Court of Karnataka dismissed petitions filed by a group of Muslim girls seeking permission to wear hijab in classrooms. The government can interfere on essential religious practices on three grounds under Article 25(1): public order, morality or health.

The Council of Europe was founded after World War II to uphold human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Europe in 1949. It has 47 member states and headquartered at Strasbourg, France.
The organization’s Committee of ministers announced that the Russian Federation ceases to be a member of the Council of Europe, after 26 years of membership. Ukraine is also a member of the Council of Europe.
