India’s equity market has entered into the world’s top-five list, in terms of market capitalisation, for the first time.
The country’s total market cap stands at USD 3.21 trillion. The first four places are occupied by the US (USD 47.32 trillion), China (USD 11.52 trillion), Japan (USD 6 trillion) and Hong Kong. India is followed by UK, Saudi Arabia, Canada, France and Germany.

A Cheetah helicopter of the Indian Army recently crashed in Kashmir’s Gurez sector, killing one of its pilots. It crashed during a routine mission to evacuate an ailing soldier from a forward post
Since 2017, 15 Air Force and Indian Army helicopters have crashed and 30 personnel have lost their lives. Other crashes since 2017 include four other Cheetah helicopters—two each for the Army and the Air Force.

Veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami has created history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the Women’s World Cup.
She achieved this feat during the match West Indies Women in the ongoing ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2022. She has now clinched 40 wickets in 31 matches in the Women’s World Cup and has surpassed Australia’s Lyn Fullston (39).

The first ever consignment of GI-tagged carpets of Jammu and Kashmir were exported to Germany from New Delhi.
The Jammu and Kashmir government has started a Geographical Indication (GI) registry for the Kashmiri carpet with a quick response (QR) code. It will certify genuineness of hand-knotted carpets with information on manufacturer, weaver, raw material used.

Dandi March or ‘Salt Satyagraha’ was organised by Mahatma Gandhi from his Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat’s Ahmadabad to the village of Dandi in the coastal area of the state. It was a 24-day long march from March 12 to April 6, 1930.
Recently, the 92nd anniversary of Dandi March was observed across the country. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also flagged off ‘Dandi Cycle Yatra’ on the occasion in Ahmedabad.

Tamilnadu Petroproducts Limited (TPL) becomes the World’s First Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) Manufacturer to be accredited with the BIS Certification.
Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers conferred the company’s ‘Superlab’ brand with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.

India’s third-largest private sector bank, Axis Bank, has been awarded IFR Asia’s Asian Bank of The Year, to acknowledge its performance in equity and debt issuance.
The bank has also won the ‘Best DCM House in India’ Award at the Finance Asia’s Country Awards, this year. The bank has 4,700 domestic branches (including extension counters) and 11,060 ATMs across the country as on December 31, 2021.

The International Day of Action for Rivers is marked on 14 March every year to raise awareness about equitable access to clean and flowing water.
This year marks the 25th edition of the International Day of Action for Rivers. The International Rivers Organisation has stated that it will mark the day this year by celebrating “the importance of rivers to biodiversity.”

‘Credit guarantee scheme for subordinate debt (CGSSD)’ is implemented by the Ministry of MSME. The Ministry has extended the CGSSD by one more year till March 31, 2023.
The Government created ‘Distressed Assets Fund- – Subordinate Debt for Stressed MSMEs’ in May 2020. CGSSD was launched to provide credit facility through lending institutions to the promoters of stressed MSMEs. The scheme is for SMA-2 and NPA accounts which are eligible for restructuring.

Hyatt Foundation, which sponsors the Pritzker Prize, announced the winner of the 2022 Prize, to Diébédo Francis Kéré.
It is the world’s most important award for architecture. Born in Burkina Faso, Francis Kéré is the first African architect to be awarded a Pritzker Prize. His studio is based in Berlin, Germany. He is known for sustainable architecture including Gando Primary School.
