Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers implements the “Strengthening of Pharmaceutical Industry (SPI)” scheme.
The Department has released guidelines for the scheme “Strengthening of Pharmaceutical Industry (SPI)”, with a total financial outlay of Rs.500 Cr for the period from FY 21-22 to FY 25-26. The objectives of the scheme are to strengthen the existing infrastructure facilities in Pharma Sector.

Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) including NTPC, Powergrid, REC, PFC, NHPC, THDC, NEEPCO, and SJVN registered the ‘Power Foundation’, as a society.
It serves as the primary policy advocacy arm for the power and related sectors. It aims to assist states and industries with research and to develop solutions for India’s energy transformation. RK Singh, the Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, is the society’s chair.

The Government has appointed former Finance Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey as Chairman of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has been appointed for a period of three years. He retired as Revenue Secretary in February last year.

Sikkim government is set to announce “Bahini” scheme in its annual Budget. It aims to install vending machines to provide free sanitary pads in all its 210 secondary and senior secondary government schools.
The main objective is to curb dropout of girls from schools and raise awareness about menstrual hygiene among children.

Puducherry Government recently launched ‘Digital School Health Platform’, to digitise the health records of around 2. 4 lakh students.
The software has been developed with the assistance of Axis Bank. Under the initiative, the nutrition level of students can be checked to find if they are anaemic and early intervention could be done accordingly.

Named ‘Indrayani Medicity’, it aims to provide medical education and research facilities, as well as all categories of specialty treatment under one roof.

A Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) employee Prafull Singh has created Guinness World Records for recording the fastest time to travel to all metro stations in the city.
This makes him the first person in the world to travel to all 254 stations of the city covering 348 km in just 16 hrs and 2 minutes.

The retail inflation rate in India, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI)- has been recorded at 6.07% in February 2022.
The figure is as per the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO). The retail inflation reading has breached the upper limit of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). In January 2022, the rate rose to 6.01%.

Eugene Parker was a physicist who theorized the existence of solar wind. He also became the first person to witness the launch of a spacecraft bearing his name. He passed away recently at the age of 94.
Though he was mocked for his findings on eruptions from the Sun, NASA’s Parker Probe has been launched which will pass through the sun’s outer atmosphere.

The Vishakapatnam station is be the first station in the East Coast Railway to implement the “One Station One Product” concept.
The concept has been announced in the recent budget. Etikoppaka toys and handicraft products from the village will be showcased and sold at the Vishakapatnam station, on a pilot basis for a period of 15 days.
