The Chhattisgarh government has decided to set up an employment mission headed by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
The Chhattisgarh Rojgar Mission will have chief secretary and principal secretary as the Vice Chairman and CEO respectively. It aims to create around 15 lakh job opportunities in the state in the next five years, by leveraging expertise of premiere institutions such as IITs and IIMs.

The Border Security Force will increase surveillance along the Pakistan border in Rajasthan under its “Operation Sard Hawa” to be held from January 23 to 28.
The Border Security Force conducts “Operation Garam Hawa” in summer and “Operation Sard Hawa” in winter every year. The force remains on “high alert” to deal with infiltration and related activities from across the border, due to fog and haze on the border during winter.

Centre-right lawmaker Roberta Metsola has been selected as the third woman to head the European Parliament.
The 43-year-old from the European Union’s smallest nation Malta is also the youngest President of the European Parliament. She is viewed as a political moderate in spite of the controversy over her anti-abortion stance.

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the first India-Central Asia summit in a virtual format on January 27, 2022.
As per the External Affairs Ministry, the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will participate in the virtual summit. Earlier, India had invited the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to be chief guests of Republic Day celebrations in 2022.

‘Desh Ke Mentor’ is a mentorship programme, under which the students of Government schools of Delhi will be guided to make their career decisions.
Recently, new measures have been added to the programme by the Delhi government, to ensure safety of the children. The mentor will be deregistered, if they an adverse report from the Police. All phone conversations between the mentors and mentees will be recorded by the government.

Sania Mirza was the Indian woman tennis player to rise to the top spot in either singles or doubles, when she claimed the No 1 place in Doubles in 2015.
She also holds the record of the first Indian woman to lift a Grand slam doubles title, when she won at the Wimbledon. After a break, she created a record by winning the Fed Cup heart Award. Recently, the ace tennis player has announced retirement after 2022 season.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has declared Jerri settlement in Reasi district as the first ‘milk village’ of the Union Territory.
It has sanctioned 57 more dairy farms under the Integrated dairy development scheme (IDDS) for the village. Under the scheme, dairy units of five animals are provided with a 50 per cent subsidy. It also includes provision for various machineries in value addition of milk.

Union Ministry of Coal launched the “Koyla Darpan” portal, to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Coal Sector.
At present, the portal has 9 KPIs including Coal/Lignite Production, Status of Coal Stock in Thermal Power Plants, Infrastructure Projects, Allocation of Blocks, Monitoring of Major Coal Mines and Coal Price.

The high-level committee was constituted in 2014 under the chairmanship of former Cabinet Secretary TSR Subramanian by the Ministry of Environment, forests and climate change (MoEF & CC) to review environmental laws in the country.
The Supreme Court had asked the Centre whether it was planning a dedicated Indian Environment Service in the national bureaucratic set-up, as recommended by the Subramanian Committee.

According to the G20 People’s Climate Vote 2021 report, which was recently released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), around 67 per cent of the youth in India consider the climate crisis as a global emergency.
The youth are also vocal about the need for urgent policy creation and change. Whereas, India has only about 58 per cent adults, who consider climate change a global emergency.
