The Union Textiles Ministry launched the ‘National Technical Textiles Mission’ (NTTM) in the year 2020. Recently, the textiles ministry cleared 20 strategic projects worth Rs 30 crore in the areas of Speciality fibres (16) and Geo-textiles (4) under the mission.
The projects of speciality fibres approved include projects in healthcare, industrial and protective, energy storage-textile waste recycling, and agriculture. Earlier, 11 research projects worth Rs 78.60 crore were cleared by the Ministry of Textiles on March 26, 2021.

North Macedonia’s Parliament elected a new cabinet under a new Social Democratic leader, Dimitar Kovacevski.
He succeeds his Social Democratic predecessor, Zoran Zaev. The new Prime Minister announced that his immediate tasks are tackling the ongoing energy crisis and key talks with Bulgaria. The Republic of North Macedonia is a country in Southeast Europe.

The Delhi government launched a “dedicated one-stop website for promotion and adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
The website ev.delhi.gov.in aims to help both the buyers and manufacturers. It includes a ‘charging stations explorer’, ‘EV calculator’, ‘EV search’ and ‘EV dashboard’ among others.

Kiribati is one of the most isolated islands in the world. It is located in Oceania and is about 4,800km from Australia.
Until last week, Kiribati had recorded just two Covid cases. After the passengers on the first international flight tested positive for Covid, the country has imposed its first lock-down.

The Amar Jawan Jyoti was established in 1972, to mark India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 War, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh.
The Indian Government has put out the eternal flame of the Amar Jawan Jyoti underneath India Gate and merged it with the flame instituted at the National War Memorial in 2019. The then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated it on Republic Day 1972, after India defeated Pakistan in 1971.

India ace badminton player PV Sindhu won the women`s singles title at the Syed Modi International tournament.
The top-seed Sindhu defeated Malvika Bansod 21-13, 21-16 in the final clash. The men`s singles final of the Syed Modi India International 2022 was declared a `No Match’ as one of the finalists was declared Covid positive.

Australia’s Online Safety Act, which was passed in July 2021, has come into effect recently. It allows adults to report cases of online bullying in the country to the eSafety Commissioner.
The act empowers the eSafety commissioner to order social media websites to take down content related to bullying against Australian adults within 24 hours and impose fines if not followed. This Act addresses bullying against adults as well as children.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched ‘Apna Kangra’ app, to help the tourists and boost sale of local handicrafts by a e-Marketing platform.
The aim of ‘Apna Kangra’ is to empower rural women and provide job opportunities to youth through tourism. It also aims to enhance hospitality services such as hotels, homestays and transport.

Facebook parent company Meta has announced that its new Artificial intelligence supercomputer will be the fastest in the world by the middle of next year.
Meta has introduced AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), which is among the fastest AI supercomputers running at present and will be the fastest in the world once fully built out in mid-2022.

China has published trial rules for the approval of gene-edited plants. Gene editing involves altering the genes of a plant to change or improve its performance.
It is seen as less risky than genetically-modifying them. This move aims to promote the seed industry of China and ensure food security to its huge population. China has also passed regulations for approval of genetically modified (GM) crops.
