Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres about the recent attack on UN mission personnel in Democratic Republic of the Congo. He also called for an prompt investigation.
In the attack, two Indian peacekeepers were killed. In total, 177 Indian peacekeepers have made supreme sacrifice while serving in UN peacekeeping missions.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) ‘Foreign Ministers Meeting’ was held in the city in Tashkent, under the presidency of Uzbekistan.
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart as well as the Afghanistan’s foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Long March is a flagship series of rockets launched by China. The ‘Long March 5B Rocket’ recently crash-landed near the Indian Ocean.
It was launched in June to deliver the solar-powered Wentian experiment module to China’s Tiangong Space Station. In a statement, NASA said that China did not share specific trajectory information as the Long March 5B rocket fell back to Earth.

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani displaced Bill Gates to become the world’s fourth-richest person, as his net worth surged to USD 112.5 billion.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, he surpassed the Microsoft co-founder by USD 230 million. Adani has added USD 36 billion to his wealth this year, more than anyone else.

As per researchers, two invasive species, the American bullfrog and brown tree snake have collectively caused USD 16.3bn in global damage between 1986 and 2020.
In addition to ecological harm, the invasive pair have also ruined farm crops and caused costly power outages. The brown tree snake caused damages by spreading uncontrollably across several Pacific islands. These findings will help officials to invest more in pest controls and bio-security measures.

20 year old Achinta Sheuli clinched gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in 73-kg category of Weight lifting.
He won the first place with a combined effort of 313 Kilograms (143kg in snatch and 170kg in clean & jerk). Mirabai Chanu and Jeremy Lalrinunnga have earlier claimed gold medals while Bindyarani Devi and Sanketh Sargar picked up silver medals.

Unclaimed deposits are defined as balance in savings, current accounts, or term deposits which are not claimed for within ten years from date of maturity. These amounts are transferred by banks to ‘Depositor Education and Awareness’ (DEA) Fund maintained by the Reserve Bank of India.
RBI has been encouraging people to claim such deposits from the respective banks. However, the amount of unclaimed deposits is on the rise.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated India’s largest online herbarium database, the ‘Indian Virtual Herbarium’ web portal.
The portal has been developed by the Botanical Survey of India under the framework of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘Digital India’. Botanical Survey of India is a subordinate office under the Environment Ministry.

The telecom operator Vodafone Idea Ltd. (VIL) launched ‘Ready for Next program’ through its Vi Business arm.
The program aims to help 2.5 lakh MSMEs in their journey of digital transformation. MSME sector makes 30 per cent contribution in the GDP of India and has an employment basket of 110 million Indians.

A panel led by Justice Srikrishna, a retired judge of the Supreme Court, prepared a draft version of the Personal Data Protection Bill in 2018.
The draft was reviewed by the Joint Parliamentary Committee, which submitted its recommendations along with a draft Bill in November 2021. Recently, the government has withdrawn the Personal Data Protection Bill from Parliament citing that a comprehensive legal framework is being worked upon.
