Notes:
Loktak lake is the largest freshwater lake in India, located in the state of Manipur. The lake covers 61 per cent of the total identified wetlands of the state.
Recently, the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) issued a notice to remove all floating houses and fishing structures on Loktak lake. It has created a a sharp reaction from the fishing community and home-stay operators.

Notes:
A rare 170-carat pink rough diamond weighing 34 grams has been discovered at Lucapa’s Lulo Mine in Angola. Named the ‘Lulo Rose’, it is considered to be the largest pink diamond discovered in the last 300 years.
In 2016, a mining operation yielded a 404-carat white stone named the ‘4th February Stone’. It was the largest ever diamond recovered in Angola.

The Chabahar Port is a strategic port located in Iran is the commercial transit centre for the Central Asian region.
‘Chabahar Day’ is celebrated to mark the beginning of International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC) – an Indian vision to economise movement of cargo between India and Central Asia. On the occasion of ‘Chabahar Day’, Union Ports, Shipping & Waterways Ministry along with the Indian Ports Global Ltd. (IPGL) which was formed to participate in Chabahar development project, organized a conference in Mumbai.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga won a gold medal for India in the men’s 67kg category weight-lifting in the Commonwealth Games.
The 19-year-old athelete from Aizawl in Mizoram also created a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch event, by picking up 140 kg. This was India’s fifth medal from the weightlifting arena including Mirabai Chanu (gold), Sanket Sargar (silver), Bidyarani Devi (silver) and Gururaj Poojary (bronze).

The Parliament has recently passed the Weapon of Mass Destruction and their Delivery Systems (Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Amendment Bill 2022.
Ministry of External Affairs introduced the bill. It seeks to amend the 2005 Act and to stop persons from financing any prohibited activity related to weapons of mass destruction and their delivery

Notes:
The Arunachal Pradesh government inked a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NITI Aayog on the enhancement of the learning outcome of students across 3,000 plus government schools in the state.
The MoU is a three-year partnership (2022 – 25) focusing over two lakh children. The school education transformation project is under NITI Aayog’s Development Support Services for States (DSSS) initiative.

Notes:
Unclaimed deposits are defined as balance in savings, current accounts, or term deposits which are not claimed for within ten years from date of maturity. These amounts are transferred by banks to ‘Depositor Education and Awareness’ (DEA) Fund maintained by the Reserve Bank of India.
RBI has been encouraging people to claim such deposits from the respective banks. However, the amount of unclaimed deposits is on the rise.

The Union Cabinet has approved India’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement.
The NDCs are to be communicated to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). India last submitted its NDC in the year 2015. India has committed to reduce the emissions intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030 and achieving 50% cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2030.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently launched the ‘Chief Minister Equal Education Relief, Assistance and Grant (Cheerag)’ scheme.
It aims to provide ‘free education’ to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students of government schools in budget private schools. Under the scheme, government school students whose parents have an annual verified income of less than Rs 1.8 lakh can enroll in private schools.

Notes:
US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has landed in Taiwan amidst rising threats from China over the visit. China warned the US overt his action and the Chinese military also vowed to launch targeted military actions.
As per the US, the visit is one of several Congressional delegations to Taiwan and it does not contradict United States policy, guided by the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979 and U.S.-China Joint Communiques.
