As per the recent study of the think tank PRS Legislative Research (PRS), Kerala held the most number of sittings of the State Assembly in 2021 at 61 days.
Between 2016 and 2019, it remained at the top with an average of 53 days. Kerala is followed by Odisha with 43 sitting days, Karnataka with 40 days and Tamil Nadu with 34 days.

As per the Election Commission of India (ECI), those above the age of 17 can now apply in advance for enrolment in the voters’ list.
The electoral roll will be updated every quarter. Earlier, afrer the recommendations of ECI, the Law Ministry amended the Representation of the People Act to provide for four qualifying dates: January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 as the eligibility for youngsters to register in electoral rolls.

Parle remained the most chosen Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand for the tenth year in a row in 2021.
This was revealed in the latest Kantar India’s Brand Footprint 2022 report. It is followed by Amul, Britannia, Clinic Plus, Tata and Ghadi. The report ranked these brands based on Consumer Reach Points (CRPs), based on actual purchases and the frequency of those purchases.

‘World Day Against Trafficking in Persons’ is observed every year on 30 July. This year the theme of the event is “Use and abuse of technology”.
The Blue Heart Campaign was also launched where the blue heart represents the sadness of those who are trafficked, as well as the cold-heartedness of those who buy and sell fellow human beings.

The Maldivian president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived India on a four-day visit. India and Maldives signed six pacts to enhance bilateral ties in the fields of trade, defence and cyber security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced a USD 100 million financial aid for infrastructure development of the island nation.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently launched the ‘Chief Minister Equal Education Relief, Assistance and Grant (Cheerag)’ scheme.
It aims to provide ‘free education’ to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students of government schools in budget private schools. Under the scheme, government school students whose parents have an annual verified income of less than Rs 1.8 lakh can enroll in private schools.

NESTS and CBSE in collaboration with TATA trusts and other stake-holders launched Experiential Learning for 21st Century Programme for Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Principals and Teachers virtually.

Amazon India has partnered with Indian Railways to boost its delivery services in the country. It was also the first online delivery company to engage with the Indian Railways to build an express transportation product through rail networks in 2019.
Through this partnership, Amazon will be able to transport packages on more than 110 inter-city routes, and provide one to two-day delivery for its customers.

South Korea launched its first moon mission recently. Its lunar orbiter ‘Danuri’ was indigenously developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
The orbiter means “enjoy the moon” successfully separating from the Falcon 9 rocket. It is expected to enter the moon’s orbit in December before starting a yearlong observation mission. If it succeeds, South Korea will become the world’s seventh lunar explorer, and the fourth in Asia.

In the U.S state of Kansas, the voters rejected the ‘Value Them Both Amendment’ that sought to remove legal protections for abortion from the state’s constitution.
This was the first time the American public electorally responded to the landmark decision of the Supreme Court, as a record 9 lakh Kansans turned out to vote.
