Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, who is on a visit to Bhutan, held a bilateral discussion with the fourth King of the country Jigme Singye Wangchuk.
Army Chief concludes his visit by paying homage at the Druk Wangyal Khang Zhang Chortens at Dochula. It was established in honour of the fallen heroes of the Royal Bhutan Army who made supreme sacrifice in operations against insurgents.

The Nyaya Mitra (NM) was launched in 2017, to facilitate fast-track disposal of 10-15 years old pending cases in High Courts and Subordinate Courts.
The Union Law Minister recently provided information on state-wise disposal under the programme.  The Nyaya Mitras have so far assisted the Courts in disposal of 3495 old cases. 80 Nyaya Mitras will be engaged across the country from 2021-2026.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the First All India District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) Meet.
The first-ever national level meet of DLSAs is being organised at Vigyan Bhawan by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). The meeting will have discussions on creation of an integrated procedure to synchronise DLSAs. There are a total of 676 DLSAs in the country.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) ‘Foreign Ministers Meeting’ was held in the city in Tashkent, under the presidency of Uzbekistan.
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart as well as the Afghanistan’s foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) introduced a new facility for pensioners to submit their digital life certificate.
Under the new ‘Face recognition facility’, pensioners can now submit their digital life certificate on the EPFO portal from anywhere in the country. Union Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav launched the face authentication technology.

‘World Day Against Trafficking in Persons’ is observed every year on 30 July. This year the theme of the event is “Use and abuse of technology”.
The Blue Heart Campaign was also launched where the blue heart represents the sadness of those who are trafficked, as well as the cold-heartedness of those who buy and sell fellow human beings.

The United States and Japan have decided to launch a new joint international semiconductor research hub.
The U.S and Japanese economic talks was recently held to work on joint research for next-generation semiconductors and to establish a secure source of the vital components.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Engineers designed an adhesive patch that produces ultrasound images of the body.
The stamp-sized device sticks to skin and can provide real-time ultrasound imaging of heart, lungs and other internal organs for 48 hours. The new design might make the technology as wearable and accessible unlike the bulky and specialized equipment.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the IFSC Banking Unit (IBU) of Deutsche Bank AG at the Gujarat International Finance-Tech City (GIFT City) in Ahmedabad.
The IBU will offer financial products across trade finance, fixed income and currencies in the initial phase. It will also provide all approved international financing products to Deutsche Bank’s clients in India and overseas.

Notes:
AlphaFold is an Artificial Intelligence tool developed by Alphabet-owned AI research company DeepMind Technologies.
The tool has predicted and published the structures of over 200 million protein structures in collaboration with the European Bioinformatics Institute. This is considered as the most influential database for biological research.
