The Union Cabinet approved the signing of an audio-visual co-production treaty between India and Australia, to promote co-production of films.
Audio-visual co-production treaties are documents which facilitate co-production of films between two countries. Under these umbrella agreements, private, quasi-government or governmental agencies enter contracts to produce films together.

Union Ministry of Science and Technology organised the DST StartUp Utsav. As per the Union Minister of State of Science and Technology, there are currently 105 unicorns, out of which 49 per cent of the start-ups are from tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
The event included the release of exclusive books displaying 75 Impactful incubated StartUps, 75 Impactful StartUps supported by NIDHI-Seed and 75 Impactful Smart Startups supported by NIDHI-EIR.

The day encourages people to donate organs as Organ failure is one of the major issues faced by people across the world. One can register for organ donation after attaining 18 years of age.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced new names for variants of the monkeypox virus to avoid causing any cultural or social offence.
Experts will refer to the former Congo Basin clade (group of variants) in Central Africa as Clade I, and the former West African clade as Clade II. It consists of two sub-clades, Clade IIa and Clade IIb. The monkeypox virus was named when it was first discovered in 1958.

Veteran Stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, passed away recently at the age of 62 in Mumbai.
He was a promoter of the recently-launched Akasa Air. Also known as the ‘Big Bull’ of Dalal Street, he was a self-made trader, investor and businessman. His estimated net worth of around Rs 46,000 crore.

The UK has become the first country to authorise a Covid-19 vaccine to treat the Omicron variant. UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority was also the first in the world to approve an original Covid-19 jab.
The vaccine is authorised for use in people aged 18 and over. It targets both the original strain of the virus and Omicron BA.1.

The Telangana government launched the ‘Bathukamma saree scheme’, under which the state government places orders to weave Bathukamma sarees, school uniforms and other fabric from cooperative societies of weavers and small scale industries.
The Telangana government recently launched ‘Chenetha Bheema scheme’ for handloom and powerloom weavers to provide them with life insurance.

Researchers from Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IITH), in association with the LVPEI and CCMB, have developed a 3D-printed cornea from the human donor corneal tissue.
For the first time in India, the researchers 3D-printed an artificial cornea and transplanted it into rabbit eye. The product is completely natural, contains no synthetic components and is free of animal residues.

National Health Authority (NHA) has announced performance based fund allocation to States and UTs for strengthening the registries of healthcare professionals and health facilities.
This performance based fund allocation will help in structured implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. R 500 crores was allocated for setting up of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’s offices at State and UTs by the financial year 2025-26.
