As per the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Food Distribution, as many as 151 districts in 24 states have already lifted fortified rice under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
The government said nearly 6.83 lakh tonnes of fortified rice has been distributed under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the second phase from April 2022. The first phase began in October 2021, to distribute fortified rice through Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN).

Aurobindo Ghosh was the first proponent of ‘Purna Swaraj’ more than 20 years before the Indian National Congress’ declaration in 1930. The 150th year of his birth anniversary was celebrated recently.
Sri Aurobindo was born as Aurobindo Ghosh on August 15, 1872. He was a philosopher, poet, journalist and revolutionary. He wrote about the idea of complete independence in his newspaper Bande Mataram, and developed an approach to achieve that goal that included non-cooperation, passive resistance and use of swadeshi goods.

Malaysia is the host of the bilateral air exercise named ‘Udarashakti’. A contingent of the Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in the exercise.
The four-day exercise includes various aerial combat drills between the two Air Forces. The first such bilateral Air Force exercise displaying the frontline Sukhoi-30 combat aircraft was conducted in 2018.

The Rajasthan government introduced the ‘Mukhyamantri Anuprati Coaching Yojana’ in 2021-22. Under the scheme, such students are provided free coaching from reputed coaching institutes.
For the current financial year, the state government has allotted Rs 17.15 crore and the number of seats under the scheme has increased to 15,000. It covers students from scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, other backward classes, minority, economically-backward classes and specially-abled.

Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has submitted data from Phase 3 clinical trials of BBV154, its intranasal Covid vaccine candidate, to the drug regulator.
It has sought approval both as a primary two-dose vaccine, and a heterologous booster shot. A heterologous booster means the third or subsequent dose of the vaccine is different from its primary dose.

“Quiet quitting” is referred to simply doing the bare minimum expected at work. It is not about avoiding work, it is about pursuing a meaningful life outside of work.

Scotland has become the first country in the world to make period products free for all. Products will be distributed through councils and education providers as per the Period Products Act.
There is now a legal duty on local authorities to provide free items such as tampons and sanitary pads to anyone who needs them.

‘Chip 4’ meeting is a meeting of the four chip manufacturing nations including the United States, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.
However, Taiwan announced that it has not been informed about the ‘Chip 4’ meeting. Taiwan is a major semiconductor producer and home to the world’s largest contract chip maker. The group is described as the gathering as U.S.-led group of major microchip manufacturers.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed an MoU for establishing an office in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
With the new office in Malaysia HAL can tap new business opportunities for Fighter Lead in Trainer (FLIT) Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and other requirements of Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).

After the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a visit to Taiwan, the US has stated that formal trade talks will soon begin with Taiwan.
As per the US press release, the first round of bilateral talks would start in early September. The topics of discussion will include trade facilitation, digital trade, and anti-corruption standards.
