A total of 1,082 Police personnel were awarded Police Medals on the occasion of the Independence Day, 2022.
347 police personnel have been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry. Jammu and Kashmir Police were awarded 108 medals, the most among states and union territories. Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh are also among the states with highest number of Police Medals for Gallantry in 2022.

India’s wholesale inflation in July eased to 13.93 per cent from 15.18 per cent last month and a record high inflation of 16.63 per cent in May.
The July figure eased as vegetables, milk and fuel became cheaper. However, the inflation remained in double digits for the 16th month. It is contributed by rise in prices of mineral oils, food articles, crude petroleum and natural gas, basic metals, electricity, chemicals and chemical products, food products.

Uttar Pradesh government approved the Uttar Pradesh Defence and Aerospace Unit and Employment Promotion Policy-2022.
The new policy will aim at providing higher incentives to investors setting up their units in the defence and aerospace manufacturing sector in UP’s Defence Industrial Corridor. The new policy provides for a capital subsidy of 7 per cent/ 10 percent or a maximum of Rs 500 crore.

International Conference on Responsible Packaging is set to be held in New Delhi. It is organised by the Foundation for innovative packaging and sustainability (FIPS).
The event focuses on optimal design, innovative material and sustainable technology. An award for responsible packaging called the Foundation for innovative packaging and sustainability Award (FIPSA) will also be launched.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched the ‘Kerala Savari,’ the country’s first online taxi service owned by a State government.
The online platform promises decent service to passengers and a fair remuneration to auto rickshaw and taxi drivers. It also aims at ensuring safe travel for the public at government-approved fares.

Goa has become the first state in the country, which has been ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certified. Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu also became Har Ghar Jal certified Union Territory.
Jal Jeevan Mission was announced in 2019, which aims to provide potable tap water supply in adequate quantity, of prescribed quality and on regular and long-term basis to every rural household of the country by 2024. 10 crore rural households of the country have been connected to the facility of clean water through pipes.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari launched India’s first Double Decker AC electric bus in Mumbai.
Switch, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland unveiled India’s first electric double-decker air-conditioned bus – Switch EiV 22. It is the first – semi low floor, air conditioned, electric double-decker with wider door on rear overhang and a rear staircase.
