Union Ministry of Science and Technology organised the DST StartUp Utsav. As per the Union Minister of State of Science and Technology, there are currently 105 unicorns, out of which 49 per cent of the start-ups are from tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
The event included the release of exclusive books displaying 75 Impactful incubated StartUps, 75 Impactful StartUps supported by NIDHI-Seed and 75 Impactful Smart Startups supported by NIDHI-EIR.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launched India’s first Saline Water Lantern ‘Roshni’, during his visit to SAGAR ANVESHIKA, a Coastal Research Vessel.
The first-of-its kind lantern uses seawater as the electrolyte between specially designed electrodes to power the LED lamps.

Ministry of Home Affairs sanctioned approval for the creation of Village Defence Guard Scheme – 2022 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, this scheme was known as Village Defence Committee, in which volunteers from villages were trained by Indian Army and Police. Rifles were provided to VDCs and they protected the vulnerable villages in mountainous areas from terror-related activities.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled the statue of warrior Veer Durgadas Rathore in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Durgadas Rathore was the Rathore Rajput General of Kingdom of Marwar. He commanded the Rathore forces during the Rajput War and played a key role in the Rajput Rebellion (1708–1710).

The 23rd edition of India International Seafood Show (IISS) is set to be held in Kolkata in February next year.
The seafood show will be organised by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) in collaboration with the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI).

Researchers from Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IITH), in association with the LVPEI and CCMB, have developed a 3D-printed cornea from the human donor corneal tissue.
For the first time in India, the researchers 3D-printed an artificial cornea and transplanted it into rabbit eye. The product is completely natural, contains no synthetic components and is free of animal residues.

National Health Authority (NHA) has announced performance based fund allocation to States and UTs for strengthening the registries of healthcare professionals and health facilities.
This performance based fund allocation will help in structured implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. R 500 crores was allocated for setting up of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’s offices at State and UTs by the financial year 2025-26.

Russia hosted the Moscow Conference on International Security 2022 and the Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the participants virtually.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took part in Moscow Conference virtually and expressed concern about the potential geopolitical fault-line in the maritime domain. The conference was attended by Ministers of Defence from different countries as well as key stakeholders in the military field.

Rhine River is the Europe’s second-largest river. Recently, the river’s water levels have continued to drop due to soaring temperatures and lack of rainfall.
This state has prevented many vessels from navigating through the waters at full capacity. The Rhine River is an important shipping route for various products.

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has launched the fifth phase of setting up of 300 Swavalamban Silai Schools across 10 districts of 6 States.
This was launched under its flagship initiative Mission Swavalamban. It will cover Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Goa, Puducherry, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, to empower women making them independent while pursuing entrepreneurship culture (Udyam Se Azadi).
