17-year-old Indian chess prodigy, R. Praggnanandhaa recorded a third consecutive win in his career against the Norwegian great Magnus Carlsen.
Praggnanandhaa defeated the reigning 5-time World Chess Champion in his final match at the FTX Crypto Cup.  Carlsen went on to win the FTX Crypto Cup while the Indian Grand Master finished at second place in the tournament.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited commenced its Cow-dung to Compressed Biogas Project at Sanchore, Rajasthan.
The plant is the first such one under HPCL’s Waste-to-Energy portfolio, is proposed to utilise 100 tons of dung per day to produce biogas. The bio-gas can be utilised as automotive fuel and the project is being developed under GOBAR-Dhan scheme.

Women’s Equality Day is celebrated in the United States annually on August 26. The day commemorates the decision to give women official voting right in the USA.
An amendment known as the Nineteenth Amendment was made to the US constitution in 1920 to give equal voting rights to women.

The embalmed heart of Portuguese monarch Dom Pedro I, arrived from Portugal and will be put on display as part of independence anniversary celebrations in Brazil.
The Portuguese government has loaned the heart to Brazil for three weeks for the bicentennial celebration. The monarch declared Brazilian independence from Portugal 200 years ago. Also called as the ‘the Liberator’, he was the founder and first ruler of the Empire of Brazil.

IIT Guwahati hosted the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2022.  It hosted problem statements given by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Smart India Hackathon (SIH) was started in the year 2017. This year, Smart India Hackathon – Junior has been introduced as a pilot for school students to build a culture of innovation. Each problem statement had a winning amount of Rs 1 lakh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Narmada canal that will bring water to Kutch from the Narmada Sarovar dam in south Gujarat.
The 357.18-klong Kutch Branch Canal (KBC) that stretched from the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam in Narmada district, to the last of the villages of Gujarat’s Mandvi taluka. Built at the cost of Rs 6493 crore, KBC has been claimed as the longest branch canal in the world.

The National Cancer Grid (NCG) is an initiative of the Government of India through the Department of Atomic Energy and its grant-in-aid institution, the Tata Memorial Centre.
The National Cancer Grid (NCG) has recently established the Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO) to promote use of digital technologies and tools to improve cancer care across India. NCG has over 270 hospitals in its network across India, at present.

Indian Business tycoon Gautam Adani recently became the third-richest person in the world. He is also the only one among the world’s 10 wealthiest people to have seen his net worth increase this year.
With a net worth of USD 137.4 billion, Adani has gained USD 60.9 billion this year, more than any other billionaire on the top 500 list. India had 18 billionaires in the top 500 list while rhe combined net worth of the top 500 billionaires has dropped 14% this year.

Every year, the National Small Industry Day is observed on August 30 in India. The Ministry of Small Scale Industries declared this day as National Small Industry Day in 2001.
The day is celebrated to encourage the development of small-scale businesses for the economic development of the country. This was an initiative by the Government of India which made for the growth of small-scale industries in the country.

The NITI Aayog has declared holy city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand as the best aspirational district on five parameters.
Under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, the district has secured first rank in basic infrastructure theme and has become entitled to receive additional allocation of Rs 3 crore. The Haridwar district has been allocated to Union Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal.
