Godavari Parulekar (14 August 1907 – 8 October 1996), born Godavari
Gokhale, was a legendary Indian freedom fighter, social activist, and communist
leader. She was the first woman law graduate in Maharashtra and famously led
the historic Warli Adivasi Revolt
(1945–1947) against the exploitative veth-begar (bonded labor) system in Thane district. Godavari
and her husband Shamrao Vishnu Parulekar formed a formidable duo that
spearheaded the peasant and tribal movements in Maharashtra.  She served as the first woman president of
the All India Kisan Sabha and was a founding member of the Maharashtra Rajya
Kisan Sabha. Her celebrated Marathi book, Jevha Manus Jaga Hoto (When Man Awakes), documents
her struggles for tribal rights and earned her the Sahitya Akademi Award.

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book The Sage who Reimagined Hinduism The Life Lessons and Legacy of Sree Narayana Guru in New Delhi. The book is authored by Shashi Tharoor. It highlights life and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru who worked against caste discrimination and social injustice.

The book “Descriptive List of the Martial Castes of Almora” was written by Pandit Ganga Datt Upreti and published in 1907. George Abraham Grierson was an Anglo-Irish linguist and Indian Civil Service member. He proposed the Linguistic Survey of India in 1886. The survey began formally in 1894 and documented 364 languages and dialects of British India. Publication spanned from 1903 to 1928 in 11 volumes with 19 parts. The linguistics survey covered over 8,000 pages, completing after about 30 years of research.
