Notes:

• Bajrang Punia is an Indian freestyle wrestler, who competes in the 65-kg weight category. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Punia won a bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov. Punia is the only Indian wrestler to win 4 medals at the World Wrestling Championships.

Notes:
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics featured karate, a martial art from the Ryukyu Kingdom of Japan, and introduced surfing, a water sport using a board to ride waves, along with sports climbing and skateboarding. Rugby, previously included in the Olympics in 1900, 1908, 1920, 1924, and 2016, returned in the Rugby Sevens format. Golf, a club and ball sport from 15th century Scotland, was also part of the event, having been introduced in 2016.

• Neeraj Chopra (India) won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics.
• Jakub Vadlejch (Czech Republic) won the silver.
• Vít?zslav Veselý (Czech Republic) won the bronze.

Notes:

• Gianmarco Tamberi (Italy) and Mutaz Essa Barshim (Qatar) both shared the gold medal in the men’s high jump event at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
• Gianmarco Tamberi along with Mutaz Essa Barshim emerged as joint winners of the event following a tie between both of them as they cleared 2.37m.
• Both Tamberi and Barshim agreed to share the gold medal in a rare instance where the athletes of different nations had agreed to share the same medal in the history of Olympics.
• The silver medal was not awarded.
• Maksim Nedasekau (Belarus) won the bronze.
• Mutaz Essa Barshim became only the second man to earn three medals in the high jump, joining Patrik Sjöberg of Sweden (1984 to 1992).
