North East Spring Festival 2026 Begins in Dimapur
The three-day North East Spring Festival 2026, also known as the Festival of the North East, will commence at the NEZCC Complex in Dimapur, Nagaland. The event is being organised by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, in collaboration with the South-Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur, under the Ministry of Culture.
The festival will be held alongside Madhya Dakshini Festival 2026, creating a cultural bridge between the Northeastern and South-Central regions of India.
Cultural Confluence and National Integration
The festival aims to preserve and promote the rich folk and tribal heritage of Northeast India while offering a national platform to traditional performing artistes. It seeks to strengthen cultural exchange and national integration through shared artistic expressions.
A total of 130 folk artistes from the eight Northeastern States will present diverse traditional art forms, highlighting the region’s vibrant cultural identity.
Youth Engagement Through Music and Choirs
Special emphasis has been placed on youth participation through band and choir performances. Blue Temptation from Shillong, Coronation Choir from Dimapur, Bhramos from Kohima and 6 Strings from Guwahati will perform, appealing to younger audiences.
The festival also features participation from 83 artistes representing Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh under the Madhya Dakshini Festival segment.
Extended Outreach and Cultural Programmes
The Madhya Dakshini Festival is being coordinated with initiatives such as Bharat Ko Jano and the Border Area Programme. Extended cultural events will be organised in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, from 2 to 3 March, and in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, from 5 to 6 March.
