Nirmala Sitharaman
Nirmala Sitharaman is an Indian economist, politician, and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who has held some of the most significant portfolios in the Government of India. She currently serves as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, a position she has held since May 2019, and is known for her pivotal role in shaping India’s fiscal and economic policies. Before entering politics, Nirmala Sitharaman worked in various academic and corporate roles. She began her career as an assistant to an economist at the Agricultural Engineers Association in the United Kingdom. She also served as a Senior Manager in the research and analysis wing of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London, where she gained exposure to international trade and finance.
Upon returning to India, she became actively involved in social and educational initiatives, contributing to the Prasanna School of Politics and Public Affairs in Hyderabad.
