A powerful suicide blast outside Islamabad’s District Judicial Complex on 11 November 2025 has shaken Pakistan’s capital, leaving twelve people dead and more than twenty injured. Investigators believe the attacker travelled to Islamabad from outside the city. Initial inquiries suggest he arrived days earlier and reached the court on a motorcycle while concealing explosives under a shawl. Authorities have collected more than ninety CCTV clips, using artificial intelligence to track his movements. The explosive was packed with ball bearings, enhancing its lethality.

Claim of Responsibility

The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), a splinter faction of the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility. The group, active since 2014 and based in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, has a history of high-casualty attacks targeting civilians, security personnel, and state institutions. Its past operations include the 2015 Punjab minister assassination and the 2016 Lahore park bombing.
