Indian Army Launches DIME Platform to Transform Logistics Management
The Indian Army has launched a new pan-Army digital platform aimed at modernising and streamlining its logistics ecosystem. The platform, named Depot Integration Management Edition (DIME), is designed to compress logistics cycles, significantly reduce paperwork and provide near real-time visibility of assets across the force.
Purpose and Scope of the DIME Platform
DIME has been developed to deliver real-time visibility of logistic items from unit level to Army Headquarters. The platform integrates logistics data across depots and formations, enabling commanders at various levels to monitor inventory status, movement of supplies and overall logistics readiness. The initiative marks a major step towards data-driven and technology-enabled military logistics.
Joint Development and Digital Workflows
The platform has been jointly developed by the Indian Army and the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics. DIME operationalises standardised digital workflows across all Army depots and units. It replaces manual and fragmented processes with a unified digital system, improving accuracy, speed and accountability in logistics management.
Decision Support Through Analytics and Alerts
DIME equips commanders with integrated dashboards, exception-based alerts and predictive stock analytics. These features enable proactive logistics planning, early identification of shortages and efficient redistribution of resources. Through automated processes, the platform is expected to reduce paperwork by nearly 70 per cent and compress the logistics cycle by around one-third.
