India to Host BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting

India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting on 22–23 June 2026. The meeting will be chaired by India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, and will include National Security Advisers or Heads of Delegation from BRICS member countries.

BRICS and Security Dialogue

BRICS is an intergovernmental grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and it also includes Iran as a member. The BRICS security track covers counter-terrorism, cyber security, and coordination on transnational threats.

Agenda and Discussion Areas

The main theme for the meeting is “Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today”. The discussions will cover the changing nature of national security threats and the role of new technologies in emerging security risks.

Working Groups and Preparatory Role

The National Security Advisers and Heads of Delegation will review the outcomes of the BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies. The meeting will also serve as a preparatory platform for the BRICS Summit scheduled in India in September 2026.
