India Post Launches Speed Post 24 and 48
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced two new premium postal services, Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48, aimed at ensuring time-bound delivery within 24 and 48 hours respectively. The announcement marks a significant step in the modernisation and service upgradation of India Post to meet evolving logistics and communication needs.
Launch Event and Regional Focus
The announcement was made during a public programme at Pichhor in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. On the occasion, the Union Minister inaugurated the renovated Pichhor sub-post office, developed at a cost of ₹2 lakh. He also laid the foundation stone and conducted ground-breaking ceremonies for a new sub-post office building, estimated to cost ₹1.11 crore, signalling enhanced infrastructure investment in rural and semi-urban regions.
New Standards in Postal Delivery
Addressing the gathering, Scindia stated that Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 would establish new benchmarks in punctuality, reliability, and delivery speed. These services are expected to strengthen India Post’s competitive position in the logistics sector, particularly for documents and parcels requiring assured and time-sensitive delivery across major routes.
Postal Modernisation and Digital Push
The introduction of these services aligns with the broader transformation of India Post, which is increasingly leveraging technology, logistics optimisation, and improved service standards. Faster delivery commitments are expected to support businesses, government services, and citizens, especially in regions where private courier penetration remains limited.

January 12, 2026 at 5:18 pmCurrently Speedpost serves worse than ordinary post. First let the ministry improves current working system instead of creating new system to cheat the consumers. Earlier registered post is much much better than current Speedpost system. Moreover now they collect more tariff than earlier registered post tariff.
Better to resort to old Registered post system.

January 12, 2026 at 9:05 pmAcknowledgement in token of delivering the post to the addressee must be taken from the addressee & must be forwarded to the consignee. Trekking of postal path is not sufficient bcoz 90% from people are not having computer literacy.
