India International Science Festival 2025 Launched to Inspire Innovation and Growth

The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025 was officially launched as a vibrant platform to celebrate and promote science and innovation in India. Scheduled from 6 to 9 December 2025 at Panjab University, Chandigarh, IISF 2025 aims to show the country’s scientific achievements and inspire widespread public engagement. The festival’s theme, Vigyan Se Samriddhi – Science to Prosperity, reflects India’s focus on using science for national growth and self-reliance.

Festival Overview and Objectives

IISF 2025 brings together scientists, researchers, innovators, and students. It serves as a forum to showcase India’s advancements in science and technology. The event promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing. It also encourages innovation that supports sustainable development and economic progress.

Theme and Government Vision

The theme Vigyan Se Samriddhi for Atmanirbhar Bharat marks science as a driver of prosperity and self-reliance. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, science and technology have been central to national policies. The festival echoes this vision by focusing on reducing import dependence and strengthening domestic capabilities in critical sectors like life sciences, agriculture, fuels, and automotive technology.

IISF 2025 will concentrate on five major themes – – Science, Technology and Ecology of North-West India and the Himalayan Region – Science for Society and Education – Atmanirbhar Bharat through Science and Technology – Biotechnology and Bio-economy – Integration of Traditional Knowledge with Modern Science These themes aim to address regional challenges, promote sustainable development, and blend ancient wisdom with new scientific methods.

Regional and Institutional Participation

The festival involves institutions from Jammu, Chandigarh, and the Himalayan belt. It marks innovations tailored to local ecological and social needs. The event also features participation from national research bodies and universities, ensuring broad representation and encouraging inclusive growth in science.

Initiatives like the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) will democratise research funding. This approach supports universities and institutions across India, breaking the monopoly of traditional centres of excellence. It aims to stimulate innovation in diverse regions and disciplines.
