India by the Creek: Festival Celebrating Dubai-India Ties

Dubai and India share a deep-rooted and dynamic tourism relationship, characterized by mutual cultural affinity and robust economic ties. To honor this enduring partnership, Dubai is hosting the India by the Creek festival from March 8 to 10, 2024.

Organized by Dubai Duty-Free in collaboration with the Indian Consulate General, the event promises to celebrate the rich historical ties between India and the Dubai Emirate.

Festival Conception and Significance

The concept of “India by the Creek” was first proposed to Satish Kumar Sivan, the Indian consul general in Dubai, during his G20 duties. This highlights that the profound relationship between the UAE and India transcends mere trade and mercantile interests. The festival represents a significant cultural milestone for both nations, aiming to deepen their cultural connections.

The India by the Creek festival is a testament to the strong cultural and economic ties between Dubai and India. By celebrating their shared heritage and showcasing the best of Indian art, music, and literature, the event aims to foster deeper cultural understanding and appreciation between the two nations. Organizers and Partners

Dubai Duty Free, in partnership with the Consulate General of India, Dubai, and Teamwork Arts, is organizing the festival. The event has the backing of Dubai Economy and Tourism, and Khaleej Times. Teamwork Arts, with its extensive experience in curating cultural events worldwide, will orchestrate the festival, drawing on their history of organizing over 33 festivals in 72 cities across 26 countries.

Festival Highlights and Attendees

The festival will feature a lineup of distinguished figures and performers from India, including:

  1. Purushottam Agarwal, an esteemed academic and writer
  2. Malini Awasthi, a renowned vocalist
  3. Alif, a celebrated musician
  4. Navdeep Suri, a former diplomat, Ambassador to the UAE, and writer
  5. Sonam Kalra, a versatile singer
  6. Indian Ocean, a legendary band

Attendees can expect a captivating blend of activities, workshops, and performances spanning from afternoon until night. The festival promises a cultural extravaganza that showcases the best of Indian art, music, and literature, creating a unique and immersive experience for all attendees.

The inaugural India by the Creek festival, offering free admission to all, is set to take place at Al Seef Park in Dubai from March 8-10, 2024.
