‘Google toilet locator’ mobile app launched by Government

The Ministry of Urban Development in partnership with Google has launched an app—‘google toilet locator’ that will integrate data on all public toilets including those present in private buildings with the Google maps. This app is expected to give impetus to govt’s Swachh Bharat campaign. The listing of 6,200 plus public toilets in 7 cities, namely, Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida, Indore and Bhopal have been put on the app. The app also has additional features like cleanliness ratings, details about the facility whether free or paid etc.

In the country, many cities like Guntur, Nellore, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh; Patan in Chhattisgarh; Thanesar and Sirsa in Haryana; Suchindram and Mailadi in Tamil Nadu; and Khopol, Kolhapur, Nandurbar in Maharashtra, have been declared open defecation free.
